ABOUT
This is the Zombie Role-playing game, in which you take on the character you wish to control, or even make one yourself! You would take that character on his/her journey through the either the fantastically dark, supernatural world of Blood Ties or the zombie filled wannabe Las Vegas, Fortune City!
RULES
1. This rule applies specifically to City of Misfortune: No creating any characters that are ridiculously overpowered. Of course your character will more or less have to be stronger than the zombies (unless you'd rather have a weaker character, that choice is yours), but he/she can't be superhuman or anything of that sort. You'll have to confer with either Ace/John Henry Eden or Rai/The Merchant and get their approval before creating such a character for the RPG.
1a. For Blood Ties, the use of gods, or beings of higher power is allowed.
2. No anime or unrealistic joke characters. (Examples: Peter Griffin, Gandalf, Darth Vader, Inuyasha) If you wish to take over a character from another series, consult an admin or moderator.
3. Not only do you have to post when participating in an RPG, you also have to keep track of what's going on around you in said RPG. Badgering people for summaries can sometimes be seen as annoying or disruptive, so try to read up as much as possible. Also, if someone else decides to portray their character as evil/good, then other people must respect that: Evil characters will not be saving kittens from trees, nor will Good characters be gunning down innocent people in the street with the casualness of talking about the weather.
4. No controlling other people's characters too much -- AKA, god-modding. In other words, in your post, your character should always be the main focus -- not someone else's. There are exceptions to this rule, however. If two members come together to plan their own dialogue and scenarios together, or make a request to have their character featured more in your post and you accept to do so, this rule does not apply. Just remember to stay as true to the character's personality as possible.
5. Remember: when you make a character, you have the last say over them -- namely whether they live or die. Nobody else can kill off/seriously injure your character, unless you yourself give them permission to do so.
6. While there is no necessary app process, we do provide one in the event you'd like to put something on the record so everyone can understand your character better. But, app or no, the staff reserves the right to accept or deny any character that they feel is/is not keeping in line with the rules laid out in Rules 1, 2, and 3.
7. Be as descriptive as you can while posting. At the start of a scene you'll want to describe things such as, but not always limited to: your character's clothing, feelings and their surroundings, and so on, as well as how they react to different situations. Granted, there'll probably be times you just don't feel like doing so (we've all been there), but still, more detail makes for a better post. So yes, it pays to be descriptive every once in a while.
8. RP grammatically. Everyone is at least required to try and type two full paragraphs when RPing with other members. This is here because not many of the people here willingly RP with those that post one-liners, with only one correctly spelled word out of the entire sentence. This means write at least 4-6 sentences per paragraph. You can of course write more, though, if you want to. It would also be much appreciated if people write in complete sentences and USE A SPELLCHECKER WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
9. Once you sign up, it would be very much appreciated if you don't lurk for a week or more before posting an application or getting involved in an RP. It is within the staff's power to delete accounts whenever they choose.
10. If you've got a problem with an admin/moderator or another member of this board, then take it up with another staff member (or, better yet, the head admin, Ace/John Henry Eden). One way or another, we'll be able to work out a solution to whatever issues you're having.
11. Causing drama for whatever reason tends not to be tolerated around here. It's not our fault if you can't be adult about your problems. Attempting to take out your aggression here by flaming others or starting arguments will result in a temporary ban from the chatbox and, if the situation calls for it, the forums as a whole.
12. If you have a neat major idea for the RPG (meaning it affects more than your own characters or one or two others belonging to other people), run it by the staff first. We are always interested in hearing ideas and getting input from our community wherever possible, although we can't always have every idea implemented.
13. Should you decide to start an argument with someone else regarding a rejected idea, you will be punished for doing so. There are no exceptions. If your idea was rejected then it was rejected for a reason; there is nothing personal about it in the slightest. The punishments will vary, but are not limited to verbal warnings for first time offenders and temporary mutes or outright bans for repeat offenders.
14. No disruptive posting. In other words, just don't spam.
15. Perhaps the most important rule is to do your best to keep things along the lines of PG-13. Due to the overall 'mature' nature of our site's overall theme (zombies), blood and violence is expected. However, excessive illegal drug use, explicit sex scenes, and glamorizing either one are not allowed, keeping in line with Proboards' ToS. There are no exceptions to this rule. If our site is to remain, we must tow the line like everyone else, and anyone who thinks otherwise would do best to look elsewhere. While we would prefer that everyone who joins be at least 18 years or older, we realize this is not exactly possible, so certain preventative measures must be put into play.
Amendment 1 - There are no excuses for breaking the rules. WHATSOEVER. It doesn't matter if you were angry at the time and weren't thinking straight. It doesn't matter if you were only kidding around. If you break a rule, it does the same damage, regardless of your reasons for breaking it, and you will be punished all the same.
Amendment 2 - Power abuse simply will not be tolerated. End of discussion. As a staff member, your job is to help the people, not harm them. You may only use your powers for the purposes that they have been given to you for. If I get complaints of administrators or moderators abusing their power then the punishments can range from temporary demotion to being permanently banned from the site. This serious offense is one that I do not take lightly at all. I am going to ask, however, that you make how they abused their powers clear in a PM or email (preferably the former instead of the latter) directly to an administrator. Abusing power consists of deleting posts without warning, banning without a valid reason, etc. -- NOT rejecting ideas, correcting others, and so on.
Amendment 3 - Harrassing the administration about punishments is not allowed. The admins and moderators are only trying to do their job, and many times they have to make difficult decisions. You may post your opinion in the thread that announces the punishment, so long as you do not flame anyone. If this thread gets out of hand, it will be closed, and you may not complain elsewhere on the board, or by other means including, but not limited to: private messages, instant messaging programs, email, telephone calls, and house visits. You also may not make threats against administrators (or other members for that matter). Punishments for harrassment range from a 1 day mute for minor harrassments to a permanent ban if serious threats are involved.
The staff members here reserve the right to amend, add, or delete any rules here whensoever we see fit. That is all.
