I know, you must be thinking "Aussie, what is this? A post about Dead Rising? Here?!
I know, insane. But I've been wondering if anyone else thinks the game stereotypes the United State's culture.
Besides the obvious theme on greed and eating delicious cows, look at the survivors (and psychopaths):
- All non-injured male survivors can equip a gun, including assault rifles, machine guns, shotguns and handguns. As can the older female survivors, while the younger ones (those that don't require you to hold their hand) can use the lighter weapons (sub-machine gun, handgun). I'm sure everyone knows the stereotype that every single American ever likes guns and own at least two hundred.
- America has a problem with obesity (but so do a lot of other countries). I'd estimate that about 1/3 of the survivors are obese.
- Ronald. Just look at that sack of crap. Who eats an entire restaurant's stock of food in such a short period of time??? Americans! (No, not really)
- Pamela and Heather. The two teenage slutty girls.
- The Hall family. [Aiming gun at an oblivious Frank] "Using a firearm for self-defense is our God-given right as Americans" - Jack Hall. Enough said.
- I'm sure there's something about Cheryl. I just can't think what it is. Same for the cult and Jo.
- Cletus. Again, 'nuff said.
So, do you think Dead Rising stereotypes the Americans? Or is it a no-smoke-without-fire, those-piss-elegant-bastards-had-it-coming kind of thing? Any thoughts?

I love eating delicious zombie cows and shooting things. I don't know what you're talking about. Also, we have plenty of nice slutty teenage girls.
(On-topic: Yeah, they do. But what can you expect from JAPANESE?!?!?!?)
