Russia in 2016 is not the Russian Federation or the Soviet Union or the New Russian Empire. No. Russia underwent a civil war after a joint National Bolshevik and Ultra-Nationalist coup hit Moscow and overthrew the President and the Duma. Infighting soon broke out between the two putshists, and the National Bolsheviks joined with the pro-government forces to form the Provisional Russian Government. The Ultranationalists retreated to the Urals, drawing on the more Orthodox Christian and conservative populace there to form the Refounded Russian Empire. In the South, a large part of the army mutinied and founded Free Russia. Free Russia is in the South and has green borders. Right below it, with blue borders is the Republic of Chechnya. North of Free Russia is the Provisional Government's territory with red borders while to the East is the Refounded Russian Empire with yellow borders.

Well I can give you a few pics of Volgograd. Note: none of these pics were taken by me.Here's the statue built as a memorial to the Soviet soldiers who died during the battle of Stalingrad (as you all know, Stalingrad was renamed Volgograd). A signpost indicating arrival in the Volgograd area. The statue again, with Soviet era tower blocks in front of it. Volgograd train station, although it's been damaged by bombing in the WW3 RPG.
