Ohai, LD. So I've been talking about it for months, but I never actually showed any initiative in it. Since CYOAs seem to be what everyone is more interested in than actually RPing, I figured I would throw my hat in the ring and see how it goes.
I'm not doing a zombie CYOA. There are already, what, two going on right now? No, I'm doing something different. Something you lot might just completely ignore, but I'm going to try it anyway and see what kind of response I get.
Everyone who has heard me ramble about game genres I enjoy knows what I love survival horror, but I also really love psychological horror along with it. Silent Hill being a prime example of both survival and psychological mindfuckery, and one of my favorite series.
So that's what this CYOA will be about. It will have a heavy dose of psychological horror, but also physical horror to keep you interested. It will be borrowing heavily from the previously mentioned Silent Hill, but also games like Lone Survivor, Deadly Premonition and perhaps the lesser known Siren series.
Now here's what I'm most interested in. I have four endings roughly planned out, but depending on your choices, the CYOA will end with one of them. I will then reveal the other three endings that you did not get upon writing the ending you do steer the story toward. I just want things to be interesting for both me and you, and the idea of seeing your choices play out toward and ending would be fun.
To give you a few hints on what this means, the protagonist's mentality is a big part of what ending you will receive, as well as how the protag. reacts to other people they meet. If she (yes she) is broken down far enough, you will receive one ending. If she maintains herself, you will get another, and so on.
So, what do y'all think? I'll start writing the first part as soon as I get done with the planning, but depending on how eager of a response I get, and if my planning keeps up the speed it's been on, I'll try to have a part up by Christmas Eve.

God speed to you then. I look forward to reading it. If you ever need any help with it, simply ask and Ace or I will try to assist. We've both written plenty of cyoas on here. More than I'd actually like to recall for myself...

I'm glad to see some interest! I'll be putting up the CYOA thread and a basic bio of the protagonist later tonight in the CYOA section, and I'll be adding onto that post as the story goes along, as it will also be serving as a refresher for everyone between posts. The CYOA itself will be beneath that post, obviously.
Still planning, but the interest has made me more interested in planning it now.

Bahahaha, I loved that game Gabe. Will do sir. I was going to ask for monster ideas next. XD
So everyone, feel free to throw out monster ideas. The grosser, weirder, and creepier, the better.

Oh hey, Michigan. I used to fap to that game...wait, what?
So here's a few ideas Bastion and I made about 3 years ago that never found a home, read 'em and tell me what you think. I'm going to post them in their original context so they might require some adjustments:
Morphos: An amorphous being that is the result of the zombie virus extending beyond humans, infecting the living microbes in water. These microbes actually perish but quickly revive as extremely aggressive beings, gaining the ability to break down nearly any form of molecule, changing them into 'dead cells'. The newly created 'dead cells' follow the microbes and do their bidding, almost like remote limbs.
While the process is small at first, the fact that the microbes are in water soon becomes a full fledged epicdemic. The dead cells move the water around and appear as though the water is floating, when in truth the microbes are utilizing wind currents to move through the air. When the mother source of water has all been broken down into dead cells, the microbes seek out greater nourishment to stay 'alive'.
This is when the Morphos' true horror is shown. The most readily available organisms are zombies and humans, which freely roam Willamette within the military blockade. When the first zombie or human is engulfed by Morphos, the microbes inside the water voraciously consume the flesh of their victim but a bit of the flesh is turned into other dead cells, giving some portions of the water a fleshy form.
This will continue until the water has been completely replaced by flesh due to the microbes devouring enough bodies. The limbs of any further victims will begin to protrude from the main gelatinous, fleshy body. Faces will also eventually appear and groan as they are dragged along, kept alive by the continual feeding of the microbes.
This last part is a fate worse than death as any normal humans engulfed at this stage will retain their personalities if they are devoured, doomed to continuing life as only a head. They will scream for death as they are dragged along, forced by the microbes to stay alive. This is meant to drive any humans the Morphos faces insane, making them easy prey. One can only imagine the terror of seeing a lover like this, their voice and intellect fully intact but rooted to the Morphos forever.
Anquila: A small enemy that travels by hanging off the ceiling, snatching onto the head of victims below. They have no lower body for their legs have fallen off, replaced by a mouth that resides under their waist.
The Anquila's digestive system functions in the opposite direction of a normal human, eating from the lower waist and the food is digested as it travels up. When their last meal is fully digested, the Anquila will be able to produce a limited amount of acidic vomit which functions as a projectile to hinder their prey's movement.
The Anquila's lower mouth is circular and lined with sharp teeth that cut through flesh and bone. The mouth on their head has not teeth for they have fallen out from no use. Anquilas are bald for no apparent reason, this has yet to be discovered.

I'd read that shit. Psychological horror is like free weed: the best of its kind.
Something really creative and outside the box would be cool too.

This'll definitely be interesting. interference fuckery would be nice, too. If it can be pulled off.
But I'd definitely vote in it.

Okay kids, while the CYOA is underway, I am still accepting monster ideas. The woman in the bathroom idea from a recent post in the CYOA was actually just pulled out of my ass, since I actually expected the majority to pick something else.
So give me your ideas, add onto what has already been given. Remember, the grosser, creepier, and weirder, the better.

A slimy tentacle monster that tries to rip her limb from limb before raping devouring her body parts bit by bit. See through and she walks in on said monster already dining on a corpse.

My interest in this CYOA has been renewed and I'm working on another post to bring it out of dormancy. So while I have catalogued previous suggestions for monsters, I am still accepting more. Bring it.
