Character Name: Sara Aurora
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Chasm, Nevada
Physical Appearance (Photo or description): Medium length black hair reaching the bottom of her shoulder blades with neatly cut bangs hanging just above her eyebrows. Attractive with a partially athletic build. She has green eyes. Wearing a black sweater her father gave her over a white and black vertically striped tank top with a pair of blue jeans and black sneakers with white and red designs on the sides and tongue of the shoe. An engagement ring with a gold band and moderately large diamond rests on her finger.
Good, Evil, or Neutral: neutral
Strengths: Very charismatic with some minor leadership qualities. She likes to improve herself in any way that will be beneficial to her or her survival. She knows how to survive in forest or wilderness environments, taking from her days as a scout when she was younger, trying to be the best scout she could be to show up all the other girls. At hand to hand combat, Sara's not exactly an expert but she's able to hold her own against someone own size and weight. She's much more skilled with a knife than she is her own hands, though. Sara's someone who likes to control people and things around her, and is pretty good at it when she wishes to be. She's an excellent singer. Despite whatever downsides she may have, Sara is very smart. She doesn't use her brain, but when she does she can excell.
Weaknesses: She's a very competitive person. If someone is doing something better than her, she needs to do it better than them. This will lead to her being vindictive to someone who is better than her. She also craves attention. Her outward appearance means the world to her. She makes sure her figure, face, and make-up look exactly how she wants them to look. She cannot stand it when she has even the smallest blemish or bruise, preferring to hide it so no one else sees it. She has problems sleeping, with constant nightmares plaguing her every moment she does. She will sometimes stay awake for days, knowing that she'll just be tortured endlessly in her sleep. Sara is very assertive and aggressive when survival is on the line. Even when it is not, she can be aggressive or assertive towards people she dislikes. She would sooner kill a human being than let herself die. All of which will lead others to not trust her or dislike her outright. She can hide behind her many facades, but if you look closely enough she's easily seen as the person she really is.
Weapon Of Choice (Within reason): Her knife.
Personality: Narcissistic personality, she cares about herself more than anything in the world, only a few select things she cares about would take priority over that. She also may find herself unconsciously flirting with others. She wants to hear what people have to say about her. Her leadership qualities are hidden behind her selfish personality, so she wouldn't be best for leading any group. The meaning of love is lost with Sara, she's never felt it and if she has it's been mistaken for the attention she craves. She finds it hard to differentiate attention and care or love. She will do whatever she must to survive, she wouldn't die over anyone. She'll do anything to survive. Anything.
History: Sara grew up in lovely Chasm, nevada. She had a mother she hated, and a father she loved. Both tried to do what was best for her, give her the things she wanted. Her family wasn't the richest, but they had the money to get Sara the things she wanted, when she wanted them. She had plenty of "friends" but only one real friend she had since she was a little kid. Rebecca, or "Bekka" as Sara and close friends of Bekka would call her. She was the only real friend, not someone connected to the cliques or circles Sara drifted from as she grew older. She's the main reason Sara joined the scouts at the age of 11. She's also the reason for Sara's competitive nature being so aggressive, with their constant contests of who was better. Everything Bekka would do, Sara would be able to top her in every way possible.
On the way to school, at age 13, Sara's eye was caught by a man who tried to get Sara to get into his van. Sara, not stupid, ran back home to tell her parents. Memorizing the first 4 license plate numbers and his short dark-brown hair. This lead to her mother realizing she needed her daughter to be able to protect herself. Sara thought she didn't need to protect herself and after a few months of self defense class, started skipping the classes and used the time to hang out with her friends or schoolmates. This only managed to make her mother even angrier. This eventually lead to an argument outside of Sara's room. Her mother, 7 months pregnant, was arguing with her outside her room. Her mother slapped her after Sara yelled some explicit things. Sara, furious, pushed her mother who unluckily fell down the stairs leading to a miscarriage. Ever since that moment, she's had nothing but nightmares. And this only made her mother hate her even more. Telling her how she "killed her babies". Sara knew what he mother meant by babies. Her mother didn't even see her as her child anymore. Just a kid she had to feed and take care of.
From then on Sara started to sleep less. This lead to a drop in her academic studies. Her social life remained the same, with her friend Bekka worrying about her. Sara excused the concerns of Bekka and or just outright ignored her.
One thing Sara loved to do was sing. She would take any classes that tester her vocal cords in any way possible. She managed to win talent shows with her voice, loving the attention she received from it she decided to work on her voice some more. Getting her father to give her a vocal coach and many other things she thought would complement her singing. Sara tried out for many things. Musicals at the local theater or her school. Even acting, which she wasn't half bad at. Sara never made it too far, her social life and sleepless nights taking priority over the "stupid" rehearsals, to which Sara thought were meaningless.
As she grew older, ignoring her own talent and focusing on the people and friends she gained, she ran into a boy named Sam. Literally. Sara was carrying some books to her classroom and Sam, walking out after being crammed into a toilet which she hoped was not recently used, bumped into her knocking them all down. Sara, a little angry, noticed Sam immediately started picking up the books and apologizing, at the same time noticing how he was wet from obviously being stuffed into a toilet. Sam told her he'd carry he books for her, as it was the least he could do. Sara saw it as sweet. She noticed as she walked to class, Sam would stare at her from behind the books. Sara introduced herself before disappearing inside the classroom, noticing how nervous and obviously attracted he was to her.
Sara saw him again in class, she managed to steal a seat next to him and talk to him some more. Sam was a lot different from most of the people in her school. Most cared mostly about themselves, or were confident. Sam was very nervous and seemed to sweat and look embarrassed just talking to her. Sara, enjoying his company, talked to Sam much more. Convincing the bullies that liked to bug him to stop. Sara found the way Sam acted around her funny, almost charming in a way. He always told her how pretty she looked, how her eyes were the perfect shade of green. How the clothes she wore looked great. The attention Sam gave Sara was nothing but music to her ears.
Sara would sometimes even flirt with Sam a little. The way he got embarrassed when she'd say the slightest thing about him was adorable to her. Sara almost expected him to blush. Bekka would chastise Sara on treating Sam the way she did. Sara didn't feel guilty about it. It wasn't even serious, and Sam couldn't have taken it as serious either, there was no way he could have. As she got to know Sam, she learned about his problems, his life. Unlike most people in their school, he didn't have it easy growing up. He had problems with stress passed down from his father.
Sara didn't usually feel bad, but Sam's story was sad enough to strike a chord with Sara. She stopped flirting with him as much, didn't want to hurt him any more than he already had been hurt. Feeling pity more than the attraction to his actions, which she saw as funny or adorable, she felt originally.
As college vastly approached, Sara found it harder and harder to get anywhere. Her grades that were slowly dropping were now turning into a threat to any dreams she had of going to college with her friends. Or letting the world hear her voice. Sara, talking to Bekka on a bench at school about all her college problems, noticed Sam. He ran up to her, taking a deep breath, then asked her if she would go to the prom with him. Sara didn't plan on taking anyone. But with Sam? She didn't want to break his heart, as fragile as it already was, so she told him she'd think about it. Hoping that he'd take the hint. Sam, much to Sara's disappointment, seemed happy and left. Bekka encouraged Sara to take him. Sam really cared about Sara, and he wasn't going to quit unless Sara told him no. Sara tried to stress how she didn't feel that way about Sam but Bekka pushed her until Sam, asking again in the cafeteria, finally managed to get a yes out of Sara.
Sam ran out of the cafeteria excited and probably already planning the night out in his head. Sara, angry with Bekka for getting her into this, told her she didn't know what to do.
When prom night came, Sam was dressed in the best suit he could get driving a fairly nice car. Sara was dressed in a moderately good dress, nothing too fancy or memorable. Most of the night was spent silently sitting next to Sam or trying to talk to her friends when she could. As the night neared and end, Sam asked her if she wanted to dance. It was a slow song, something meant for slow dancing which Sara definitely knew how to do. Sara danced with Sam, seeing that same nervous and embarrassed face he always made around her.
On the ride home, Sara was mostly silent. She debated how the night would end, she didn't want to leave without saying a word, but didn't want to kiss him and lead him on. Sara thanked him and left, hoping he wouldn't see it as anything.
A month of struggling to figure out what she wanted to do with her life passed and Sara's only friend, Bekka, had already gone to college. For the most part, Sara was alone. School being her only connection to her friends didn't help. Sara was kicked out of her room by her mother due to an argument they had over Sara's life. She only had so much money that her father could give her. Sara called Sam, desperately needing a place to stay. Sam told her she could stay with him at his brand new house he managed to buy.
Sara, now 19 and still living with Sam, had gotten a job as a waitress to help Sam pay for the bills she felt she owed Sam. Sara was sitting on the couch after a long and annoying day at work. She lied down on the couch and started to watch tv when Sam burst in and, with little to no warning, asked Sara if she'd be his girlfriend.
Sara, feeling trapped in a corner at this sudden development, mumbled an "okay". Forcing down the no she wanted to say. In just days Sara already felt as trapped as she did when Sam asked her. She called up a friend, who now worked as a bartender at a nearby club, and told her to come down some time. Sara, still 20, managed to get a fake id from the same friend and met up with her at the bar. The loud music and the alcohol didn't really help as much as it nullified the feeling. Her friend pointed out a guy who was looking at Sara. Sara, against her better judgement and under the influence, talked to him. One thing lead to another and Sara soon found herself repeating the process over and over again, behind Sam's back. She hated what she was doing, but the feeling of being trapped with Sam was gone whenever she met other men. It made everything so much simpler. It gave her freedom. And she still got the benefits from Sam. His constant compliments, the attention he gave her. But Sam's attention and care only hurt her even more.
As time passed, she wanted Sam to find out. She tried to make it as obvious as she could subconsciously. She wanted Sam to yell at her. To kick her out. To be angry at her. Anything that would end their relationship.
Sara, age 21 now, was surprised when she came home to Bekka. They hugged and Sara got caught up on Bekka and her wild adventures. Sara, wanting an outlet, told Bekka everything. All the things she'd done and all the stuff she wish hated herself for. Bekka, shocked, managed to knock some sense into Sara. Sara took Bekka's advice and stopped herself before she got too far. Bekka convinced Sara to give Sam a shot, he was a good guy and deserved more than Sara gave him.
Sara tried, with Sam. She managed to have a fairly stable relationship. She actually found some happiness with Sam, confiding in him and talking to him. As their relationship blossomed, Sam's father opened up a new car garage in of Willamette, Colorado. Sara moved down there with Sam, feeling like a change of scenery could do both of them well. Sara, now jobless again, noticed a lounge which needed a singer. Sara, realizing she could sing again in front of people who could listen to her voice and adore it, took the job as fast as she could.
Every night she would entertain people, getting cheers, clapping, whistles. The attention was euphoric, Sara felt happier than she could have ever felt in Chasm.
Sara, now 25, is still singing at the lounge. Sam's successfully running the car garage and they're both happy. One night, as Sara just finished singing, Sam surprised her with a visit backstage. He pulled out a box, getting down on one knee, and purposed. Sara, a bit shocked, said yes. Sara told Bekka over the phone, who got read to visit. The incoming wedding not only had Sara stressed, but also nervous. She was pledging her life to Sam and she didn't know if she wanted it. The unexpected nature of Sam's proposal didn't help. And if that wasn't enough, there's also this zombie outbreak that started. Sucks.
