Character Name: Kaiya “Miu” Hirano
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Los Angeles
Race: Human
Physical Appearance (Photo or description):
Good, Evil, or Neutral: Good
Strengths: Kaiya is a caring person, somewhat resourceful, a decent cook in a pinch, and has a nice voice to sing for people to possibly calm nerves. Also small and probably useful when trying to reach things in tight spaces or needing to lift someone up to a high ledge.
Weaknesses: She is not a fighter, having never handled a gun before, therefore only small guns would be suited to her for quite some time. Her small size is useful for finding things in spaces and moving through them, but not for combat when it comes to standing her ground. She could get bowled over with relative ease.
Weapon Of Choice (Within reason): Pistol.
Abilities: Ever since she was a child, Kaiya has had an unusually high extra-sensory perception. She'd been seeing ghosts as if they were people, even had conversations with them, only to realize she was talking to air. As she grew older, especially in high school, she became withdrawn and shy, closing her mouth and ears whenever a spirit would be around, trying to ignore it until it went away so as not to make a scene.
Kaiya's senses, while useful when dealing with supernatural things, also make her a target, because she is like the beam from a lighthouse on a stormy sea to spirits and malicious entities.
Personality: Kaiya is an incredibly caring, but shy person. She can speak for herself and get what she needs to say out there, but she's always been a very poised or quiet girl. But despite this, she is often very persistent in being friendly to someone who has otherwise been rude to her if she gets the sense that they do not really mean it, or if she can sense that they are hurting.
It's easy to embarrass her all the same, but throughout the story, she does eventually get better at responding and handling it. All the same, it's still easy as hell to do it.
She tries not to show distaste or displeasure to others who show over-enthusiastic jealousy toward her 'gift', as often Kaiya feels like it is a curse. While she does not blame anyone or anything as the reason for her having it, there are moments where she will quietly wonder “why me?”
History:
Kaiya grew up in Los Angeles, living with her parents, a dog, a cat, typical family. She'd been interested in music and singing since she was young, and often participated in school programs that involved music. She even took private voice lessons for a time after classes. When she entered high school, Kaiya started a Youtube channel using the alias “Miu”, covering songs by artists, but also releasing a few original songs. Her music was as much of a pleasure as it was an escape from her abilities.
Her family moved to town the summer before her senior year of high school for a change of scenery, and because her father was able to telecommute and drive back easily if he was needed. K aiya wasn't really affected by the move, but was immediately aware that the town wasn't normal by any means.
They moved into an old house that used to belong to her grandmother, and while her parents originally wanted to sell it, Kaiya protested and instead began spending time at the old antique shop her grandmother owned. She had never really asked for much in her life, so her parents consented when she asked to try running it, as the inventory was still there, and the deed, paperwork and transaction history was still at the house. Quickly Kaiya realized the shop was a place where she felt at peace, even if sometimes she would feel things from some of the objects already present or that people brought in.
