Feeling particularly lazy, you decide to call for Cynthia rather than seek her out. "Cynthia! Come back down here, you shouldn't be walking around up there by yourself." You yell from your place on the couch. Isabella stares at you with an irritable expression but you remark, "Don't get your panties, if you're wearing any, in a bunch. She'll probably down here in a moment." She blushes obscenely and retreats to the kitchen. There's a thought I don't mind having in my head....
With no reply from the latina, you hoist yourself up from the couch, albeit grudingly. You trudge up the stairs with heavy footfalls, each step creaking as though it were the cry of a person in pain.
"All right Cynthia, I know you heard me. What's-" You stop speaking when you find her frozen in the doorway of a bedroom, gazing inside in utter silence. "Is something wrong?" You ask once directly behind her. "L-look at the bed..." Her finger trembels as she points toward into the dank, dark room.
Moving past her, you see what has her on edge. Laying side by side in deathly tranquility, two petrified corpses rest under the covers on an old spring loaded mattress. "The hell?!" You gasp upon moving closer, finding that the hair of both corpses is snow white.
"How long have they been like this? This is inhuman." You run your hand over the face of the male, his skin coarse and leather-like. Whatever is going on in this place, you worry that you may soon be sucked into it.
"It looks like they didn't suffer, whatever happened to them finished them off quickly." You tell Cynthia after looking both bodies over. "What could have done such a thing? I've never seen anything like that." She quivers in the hall. You shut the door so that you won't have to stare at the former tenants any longer. "I don't know, but I think we..." You trail off as you stare beyond her at the window.
A humanoid figure is watching you from the other side of the glass, smiling deviously with rows of inch long, razor sharp teeth. One blink later, the figure is gone as though it were never there. You wipe your eyes and and disregard the sight. Shit, I'm not going crazy, am I?!
"I'll help you search the rest of the area, we don't want you running into any trouble by yourself, do we?" You joke with her, which brings a slight smile to her face. "I'd like that. Now then, what's over this way?" With newfound confidence from your support, Cynthia runs her finger under your chin then points to a closed door in the opposite direction. "Let'd find out." You reply, taking the lead.
You push the door open to find a most peculiar sight. The room is decorated simliar to a medieval torture room, complete with a torture rack, a stretching post, and an iron maiden that stands in the center, its doors clamped shut, as if to intimidate anyone who dares to enter. "This place is starting to make no sense whatsoever, why in the hell would someone have a room like this upstairs?!" You inquire as you take a step inside.
"Well, I can honestly say I've never seen a place like this." Cynthia remarks while examining one of the various torture devices. She seems strangely fascinated by them but it is nothing out of the ordinary.
You stay focused on the iron maiden, which stands before you like a monolith of death. You rap your knuckle on the cold steel, listening for the resounding echo. The answer you receive is nothing as you expect. A rap from the inside mirrors yours in the same spot, causing you to jump back in surprise.
"What is it?" Cynthia chuckles after looking back. "Something just knocked from the inside of this. But that's impossible, iron maidens are filled with foot long spikes." Both you and the Hispanic woman, who is now at your side, stand before the iron case, unsure of what to do. You ask if anyone is inside but are answered with yet another rap of the steel.
Vitality: 52% Entourage: Cynthia Velazquez: 95% Weapon (2 max): Katana with sheath Inventory (4 max): Nothing Current level: 6
A) Open the iron maiden, a person might be trapped inside
B) Take caution before opening it, have Cynthia move back then pull the doors back slowly
C) Leave it shut, you'd rather not find out what is waiting within
D) Call for Isabella before opening it, ask her what she thinks of the peculiar situation
E) Investigate the rest of the room first, perhaps there's a larger weapon you could use in case there is a hostile within the iron maiden
F) Allow Cynthia to open it for you, you'll stand back, ready to strike if something leaps out
Z) CYOA

"I'm going to look around before we open this thing. If something leaps out of it, I don't want to be caught with my pants down." With Cynthia's agreement, the two of you search the room for anything that could be used as a more suitable weapon.
"What about this?" She asks you after happening upon a large axe. "Let me see it." You make your way over to Cynthia to see what she has found. The axe is large and, after running your hand over it, you determine that it is made of bronze. You prick your finger on the blade by merely stroking it, which pleases you greatly.
Its shaft is rather thin but that is of no concern. You lift the weapon with both hands, it is extremely heavy and requires a strong grip in order for you to wield it. With a heave, you drop it back onto the toture rack where Cynthia found it. "This'll do. Good job, but I'd prefer not to imagine where all the blood on it came from..." You leave it at that, much to Cynthia's approval.
"This place, I still can't help but feel that something horrible is about to happen." She whispers to you. "You feel it too? Good, I thought I was beginning to go crazy. Now let's get this thing open and see what's inside."
"I want to check if anything is still inside it though." You say before preparing to open the iron maiden. Making sure that Cynthia is at a safe distance, you knock on the iron. A faint rap replies this time, whatever is inside must be getting weak. "Now's definitely the time to open it." You assure yourself as you unlatch the doors.
They swing open to reveal a deep darkness and blood coated spikes on the door, blood that is warm to your touch. The figure that falls out of this torture device completely shatters your perception of reality.
Both you and Cynthia cry out in terror as Isabella's skewered body, which is riddled with holes, slumps to the ground.
"How?! She was downstairs! We never took out eyes off the stairs!" You shout in anger, slashing the axe into the floor. It stays upright, embedded deep into the stone. Cynthia fights the well of tears fogging her eyes while you kneel over the latina's dead body. Hoping for the best, you touch her jet black hair then stroke her cheek softly.
Her face is stone cold and feels exactly as flesh should. How in the hell did this happen?!
While your companion continues to cry, you feel a large cloud of dread overcome you. Something monumental is about to happen and you need to be prepared for it.
Grim Sense: Extreme
Vitality: 52% Entourage: Cynthia Velazquez: 95% Weapon (2 max): Katana with sheath, Bloody Axe Inventory (4 max): Nothing Current level: 6
A) Head back downstairs with the body, Isabella deserves a proper burial once you leave the house
B) Stay within the torture room, you will be able to prepare for whatever is coming
C) Make your way downstairs to see if you can find a clue, anything that will lead you to discover how Isabella wound up within the iron maiden
D) Comfort Cynthia, she seems shaken up by this horrid sight
E) Examine the inside of the iron maiden, perhaps it will yield a clue of some sort
F) Explore the rest of the house, this entire place is an enigma that must be solved if you are to survive
G) Leave the house, there is nothing more for you here
If you vote A, C, or F, what should you do with Cynthia: 1) Allow her to come along
2) Order her to stay within the torture room

You can see that Cynthia is visibly distrubed by this turn of events, if she can't control her composure, she might put herself at risk by acting hysterical. You decide that the best thing to do with her would be to comfort her, help her come to her senses.
"Cynthia, come on, look at me. I know this seems impossible.....it really does, but I need you to remain focused." You glance back to Isabella's body, doubting the reality of this yourself. "B-but she's DEAD. Something....I don't know, teleported her into that thing." She peeps before turning her back to the wretched sight behind you.
"We'll find out what happened, I promise. And I'll make sure nothing like this happens to you in the mean time. Just stay by my side so I can keep an eye on you at all times." You place a comforting hand on her shoulder, softly to as to not overdo it. A pause follows this.
After the silence, Cynthia grabs your hand with her own, speaking over her shoulder she says, "Can you really guarantee that? I....I don't want to die in a hellish place like this. There are still things I want to do..." She trails off into a low murmur, her voice becoming nothing more than an inaudible sound that even your hearing fails to comprehend. Even if we get out of this hellish place, something tells me we'll be heading back to Willamette. So we'll essentially be stepping out of one fire and straight into another.
"Cynthia?" You ask once she has finished speaking, your hands still touching. "Thank you. I can't remember the last time someone was this kind to me. Most of the men I meet simply want to saddle me up and be done with it." She tightens her grasp on your hand for an instant, letting go as a feeling of embarassment washes over her. You move foward so that you are standing beside her, no longer wishing to speak to the back of her head.
"I-I'm sorry. You must think of me as nothing more than over emotional baggage now." She chuckles, lightening the mood once the two of you are out in the hall. "Of course not, you held yourself together better than I could've without...." You stop yourself at that point, almost revealing too much information by complete accident.
"Without what?" She inquires, her curiosity piqued by your slip of the tongue. "Oh nothing, I was just rambling. I guess this place is starting to get to me to." You tell in her in an effort to change the subject. "I understand, it's something you want to keep to yourself. We all have skeletons in the closet, some more than others." She casts her gaze downward, the tables having been turned on the previously inquisitive woman.
"How about this? Once we get out of here, let's just sit down and have a chat. If you have anything you'd like to share, I'll be all ears. Sound good?" You ask, attempting to alleviate the somber mood that has crept up. Cynthia looks up to and beams. "It's a date." She giggles, relieved to be off the issue for the time being. Now to get down to business, where to begin searching?
While contemplating what to do next, you reach a decision to forgo the heavy axe within the torture chamber. It is far too cumbersome to wield in this small house.
Vitality: 52% Entourage: Cynthia Velazquez: 95% Weapon (2 max): Katana with sheath Inventory (4 max): Nothing Current level: 6
A) Carry Isabella's body downstairs, she shouldn't be left lying there like this
B) Resume searching upstairs, there are still a few rooms you haven't examined yet
C) Head back inside the chamber and scan the inside of the iron maiden, there must be some clue within to explain how Isabella wound up inside it
D) Look outside the window where you saw the humanoid before, it might have been what carted Isabella off to the iron maiden somehow
E) Go back downstairs, there should be a sign somewhere since that's where you last saw Isabella
F) Explore the basement, you recall seeing a door leading further down when you first entered the house
G) Return to the room with the petrified bodies, perhaps there is some connection between them and what happened to Isabella
Z) CYOA
For either A, B, E, F, G, or possibly Z, what should you do with Cynthia?
1) Allow her to accompany you, she shouldn't be left alone unarmed
2) Ask her to remain in the hall, there doesn't appear to be anything else up here
3) Send her back into the chamber, it is a well lit room where it would be hard for something to sneak up on her
An extra option should you vote B, D, or G:
4) Request that she go downstairs, she can search there while you remain up here
I've been wondering whether I should forgo the italicized names altogether. It removes a bit of tension because you know who will be in danger yet it allows proper planning.
I'll leave it up to you, the voters, should I keep the italicized names or use it for another purpose other than to display who may possibly be in danger?
