www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/10/28/MND61LN3LM.DTLi'm not usually one to get caught up in news, but this is just sickening. a peaceful protest and a marine almost dies, and the people responsible do nothing about it. a marine who served our country. and i read in another article, the government is doing nothing about it.

Police officers all have gotten butt fucked in high school by a bully or their uncle or some shit, so naturally they treat everybody like shit to make themselves feel as though their assholes haven't been ripped out by a large black man named Bubba.

These protesters should just gtfo. They literally have NO reason for protesting, Casualties were bound to happen, this should be a sign to the protesters to give up their war on nothing and go back to their apparently very shitty lives.

As Rai said They literally have NO reason for protesting, Casualties were bound to happen, this should be a sign to the protesters to give up their war on nothing and go back to their apparently very shitty lives. There will always be violence against protesters, whether its a so-called peaceful protest or not. I've seen plenty of stories where a 'peaceful' protester has done something to incite the wrath of the people they're 'peacefully' protesting against. Long story short, protesters will always be beaten up eventually. It's part of protesting. They're kind of annoying, whether their protest is non-violent or not.

that's something that needs to change, a peaceful protest is in no way asking for any sort of violence, but it's expected. there needs to be a change, because saying that protesters should stop protesting because they will get hurt is not what the average mind should think. protesters have the right to protest peacefully, they shouldn't be hurt in any way as long as they keep it peaceful, which they almost always do.

"Hur dur let's occupy places to make a political statement" "Right on! What's our political statement?" "Uh... I sort of just wanna get on TV lol" "Woot! Let's do this sh-*Is shot*"

I'm here to back up mai boi Izaya.
Sure, the overall message is confused.
Sure, there's a lot of assholes who provoke the police.
Sure, protesters are annoying 100% of the time.
But these fuckers are making a stand against the rapetastic capitalism. I may not like the way they're doing it and you may not like the way they're doing it, but it's better than bending over and lubing up your asshole while big banks pay the big government so they can take turns raping you for all your worth.
Added on to that. Protesters should let the police do their job, which is to arrest anyone who tries to turn the protest violent by provoking da man.
You spit in any person's face you gonna get your ass beat. It's a fact of life.
The protesters should just let the police work.
And the police shouldn't be that easily provoked. They're going to work crowd control at a protest, there's bound to be several anti-police slurs flying around. Calm yo tits and just do your job. Abide to the scale of non-lethal to lethal force; don't tear gas people because someone called you a pig.

Something that I think needs to be added, some people "join" these protests, just incite a riot and whatnot.

some are even police officers that are there to make the protests violent. and rai, just because they will be hurt doesn't mean they deserve it. if it's a peaceful protest, there's no reason for violence. just because they end up that way, doesn't mean that's how it should be.

Well nothing is going to change how it is, yo. So I don't see why this dude getting hurt is such a surprise and/or a big deal.

it's not a surprise, but it is a big deal. someone was injured, a injury should be a big deal, especially during a peaceful protest.

Explain how it's a big deal when EVERY protest has an injury. It would be a big deal if the police were slaughtering hundreds in the streets.

Explain how it's a big deal when EVERY protest has an injury. It would be a big deal if the police were slaughtering hundreds in the streets. This. There is literally no such thing as peaceful protest anymore. Someone just has to spit in a police officer's face or charge the line, forcing the police to take action and thereby nearly inciting a riot. It would be a big deal if, perhaps, the police started firing live weapons such as handguns and assault rifles into the crowd, as is what happened with the Egyptians, and we saw exactly how that turned out. When a death count begins rising, that's when the national media and the citizens as a whole really get involved. Apart from that, nobody gives two shits if a protester gets whacked in the head and ends up injured. That is, simply put, how most protests end up, as Rai said. You may have a bit of a bleeding heart over this, because peaceful protests are technically protected under the Constitution, but this is just, simply put, the real world. People die and people get injured, especially when they provoke police officers. The fact that said casualty was a marine really has no bearing on the subject at hand. He knew full-well the risks of joining the protest, but decided to go anyway. He just happened to be the unlucky person to get a tear gas canister to the face. A shame, but that's just life. Did he deserve it? Probably not. Did it happen anyway? Yes, it did. Enough said. Get over it.
