Something akin to Arkham/Gotham City? Gothic architecture, crime ridden city, some kind of secret Umbrella lab or bee-ridden orphan caused the infection to hit here hard. Gangs roam the streets looting and pillaging, survivors try to find a way out. All that jazz. Architecture like this:

This setting needs more Gabe.
Or less Gabe.
One of those two.

So I sorta like the gangs roaming the streets idea and maybe the bee-ridden orphan idea cuz it's pretty true to DR's canon.
But I'm not digging the Arkham/Gotham City thing, dawg. Though maybe I'm a little biased in that because I've heard so much about Arkham City that I want to strangle the next person that mentions it to me.

No, no, no! I just mean the architecture and setting. Divorce it from the Arkham series and Batman, the pictures were just as an example of the setting. Think Raven's Gate, akin to that.
I just really love the setting. We could use the gigantic industrial area and the museum (I've always liked the idea of a museum in a zombie apocalypse as a hideout) and the other places. I could make a map off the city from the games and expand off that, too. If someone could upload an in-game map of Arkham City, I could work off that on my break sometime.

We've already done nearly that exact same setting though, and it barely lasted two months, if that long. To be honest I got bored with it, Sylar and Rie seem pretty set on Willamette, and personally I think I would enjoy going through the mall at least one more time. Aside from that, gothic settings get old, fast. I for one am tired of dreary, dark, bleak atmospheres that just make a person feel depressed and/or they're walking through a Transylvanian city and that Dracula is going to jump out at them every time they round a corner, and I'm fairly sure most of the regular posters are too. We got enough depression when Basil was here and Alt Z-Day was in full swing. Willamette isn't exactly the newest place for an RPG, but goddamn, at least the mall alone had enough diversity to keep one interested, instead of nothing but the same thing constantly (the endless casinos in Fortune City, the never-ending derpy post-apocalyptic world of Alt Z-Day, etc).
If you really want to draw a map, maybe draw one of the town of Willamette? The surrounding area I mean, we already know what's in the mall. Apart from that, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I for one do love gothic architecture, but I'm thinking of the people who will be RPing with me. Maybe I like it, and maybe Aussie likes it, but nobody else seems as interested in it. RPs tend to die when there's lack of interest with all parties, and I do like some of the ideas Aussie has given us, but maybe it'd be better to take those ideas and stick them into Willamette.
Also, we're getting a whole new map? Why not just modify the old one?

Well, it's not like the setting killed the RPG. We've had multiple kinds of RPGS in countless settings.
So, we were always going to do Willamette? That's fine by me. Strip the ideas you like (The gangs? Would gangs be forming after a couple of days? It's not like Willamette was crime ridden. Oh well.) and archive the rest if we want to use the city.
I'll see about the Willamette map. Like they said in the game, distinguishing characteristics: jack shit. The mall is probably all we need, and maybe Main Street. I appreciate Veta for doing the old map, but I don't really like it (I <3 you though, V! No stabbing, plz).
I completely disagree with this statement, though. It's not like a zombie apocalypse is fine and dandy until you're surrounded by neo-gothic architecture...and Dracula.

Dead Reign died relatively fast. Let's just stick with what we know: RPGs that don't involve the undead in any way and Dead Rising 1.

No, I liked the town feel that the old map had when I saw it. Giving it just a main street will turn me off to the RP fast. I won't always want to stay in the mall, as great as it is. You don't have to go crazy with the town, but it'd be weird to me if you just had the main street then the mall and nothing else.

In my completely illegitimate opinion, you literally can't have a depressing zombie anything. Zombies are too retarded to be unfunny, and watching retarded zombies eating retarded survivors is usually a laugh a minute. Sure you can have serious overtones, but the core of zombies as a monster is they're ability to be humorous and dark at the same time. Yes your friends and family have been reduced to shambling(Or sprinting) brain dead shells. Yes you are killing them in great numbers. No you can't be depressed, it's every sick revenge fantasy, killer dream, and anger release rolled into one.
The architecture is just a setting, it has nothing to do with the overall mood unless the characters make a big deal about it. A creepy Gotham-esque city like a Futuristic Chicago, Detroit, or New York is an epic setting for a zombie RP/movie/game. From the highest buildings crafted by man, you can look down and see how far man has fallen. And that's something to laugh at being that they're animal like berserkers who can't operate a fucking door knob

You don't have to include a town if you don't want to. Just the main street is fine.

So uh...I showed Ace a map of Silent Hill and he liked it, so we're going to be using a map based on that. Just figured I'd drop that in. >> Map is here<<

It's not like Silent Hill was the cheeriest place on Earth, though. But whatever, I like the map. The newest game also seems to show the more rural side of Silent Hill, like the mines and forests, so we could also use that. I'd like a plot involving a character lost in the woods. It won't drag on for several episodes like some other shows, but whatever.
I've also thought of some new characters. Don't worry, Ace, it's not a glee club.

Wait, I'm confused. Is this the same RPG as the one Sy-Sy just started? Is the Silent Hill map going to be a map for Willamette or is it it's own new location and town? Will Glee's mashup of the two Adele songs performed by The Troubletones be done well? Do I post my character application in the usual place? Can I make several characters and just randomly and violently kill them off like in the Walking Dead comic series? Here's my ideas for characters. Please note, this isn't an application, jsut a reminder for me. - The West-Taylor family - Beth Kinney- Nurse Alessa Wilson - Stereotypical bad ass soldier, Ford Austin Smithson - Lenny Lanie - Mittens Edit: Can I do the applications later and post first? I'm on a writing spree. It calms me. I'll PM my post to an admin to prove it doesn't have any musical moments or anything.

Oh, cool. I'll join that one. Can the town be called Silent Hill? Or Silent Valley? I like Silent Valley.
It's a zombie RPG though, right?
