"I don't see anything out there, but I can still hear it." Tom calls back to Tony as they duck behind the counter of the gas station they are scouring. They'd managed to enter the building undetected from the streets but hadn't seen or heard anything after their initial search. "Damn, I honestly thought this place was clear. Whatever the hell it is must've been hiding when we scoped it out." Tony grumbles under his breath, clutching his baseball bat tightly at its base. "It's too dark, we're shit out of luck." Tom sighs as he slides to the floor against the counter. "I've still got that flashlight, but do we want to use it?" Tony asks reluctantly, knowing how foolish revealing their location could be.
"I think we have to. It's too dangerous to pick the store clean while that thing's skulking around." Tom replies though still unsure of what stands in their path. Its footfalls are silent, but its loud breaths are raspy and echo throughout the entire gas station, leaving them mystified as what the creature might be. "It can't be too big otherwise we'd definitely hear it moving around." Tony states, hinting at his preference to use the flashlight. "Unh, fine. On three, we'll standing and sweep it across the store. Be ready." Tony says while readying his machete.
"1." Tom and Tony shift to their knees for a swift rise. "2." Tony taps his flashlight while Tom holds his machete steady. "3!" They shoot to their feet as Tony illuminates the store. The creature is in the aisle directly in front of them, investigating a spilled bag of chips. It immediately reacts to the beam of light, baring two rows of thin, long fangs. Its skin, if you could call it that, is a sickly light brown color that is almost green in its complexion. It's hunkered down on all fours but appears as though it could stand bipedal if it desired. It is humanoid in overall appearance but its face is that of an emaciated man's whilst lacking a nose. Sharp claws line its hands and feet to complete its natural arsenal.
It pounces directly at Tony, covering the eight feet between them in a single bound. He doesn't have to react to the attack as Tom intercepts its leap, stabbing the creature in the stomach from underneath. He then slams the beast into the ground before Tony bashes its skull with his bat, ending its life in one swift combo.
"Goddamn, let's not do that again." Tony breaths a sigh of relief as he catches his breath. "Sounds like a plan. Let's grab some food and get out of there." Tom orders as he digs his blade out of their foe's body. He kicks the thing one last time for good measure, shaking his head at its inhuman nature. "What the fuck is with the things in this city? I've never heard of so many....things in a zombie outbreak before." Tony thinks aloud while filling his pack with canned foods. "Hell if I know, but I'd prefer plain old zombies any day." Tom retorts, cutting open a pack of bottled water. He pours a dozen of them into his bag, filling it in the process.
"I'm full over here. You finished yet, Tony?" Tom asks as he seeks out is friend in the store. "Same here." Tony snaps behind Tom, causing him to leap in surprise. "Ha ha!" Tony cups his hands over his mouth, stifling a fit of laughter. "Very funny asshole. We've got what we came for so let's get out of here." Tom begins leading them out of the store when a feminine scream grabs their attention. "Damn, where that'd come from? It's going to attract the attention of every zombie and monster in town." Tony observes as they rush out onto the street. The current area is clear, but the scream was undeniable close. It pierces the air again, guiding them a block away to an alley beside a hobby store.
They watch from the sidewalk as an attractive, hispanic young woman with dark brown hair in a dark blue bustier and black short shorts staggers out of the alley, falling to the ground before crawling away on her back. The heel of her black knee high boots scrapes against the side walk, adding to her despair. The thing pursuing her emerges from the alley shortly after. It is the largest frog Tom and Tony have ever seen with a bulging belly. It's gray skin blends in with the sidewalk perfectly, which most likely allowed it to ambush the young woman. They can see something squirming within its stomach, but they have no idea what it is.
Tony begins to suggest they help her just as the frog whips its tongue and ensnares her ankle. It begins dragging her toward its maw, but yet another distraction redirects their attention. On the other side of the street, a white, blonde haired beauty in a white blouse and skirt wrestles with an extremely muscular zombies as it lifts her into the air by her arms. It begins dragging her toward its jaws as she kicks at its chest to hold herself back, but its strength is too overwhelming. "Christ Tom, what do we do?" Tony asks though he appears ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.
