Character Name: Dustin Hale (or just 'Dusty')
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Wilmington, North Carolina
Physical Appearance (Photo or description):
Standing at 5'11", Dusty is a slightly tall young man, with a fairly muscular frame from working construction part-time with his father. A messy mop of dirty blond hair adorns his head, with hazel-colored eyes and a seemingly ever-present bit of stubble adorns his face. He can be considered handsome in a rugged kind of way. He wears a black t-shirt with an Autobot symbol from Transformers on the front, of which he is a fan, which is overlaid with a red and black flannel shirt that has seen some wear and tear even before the zombie outbreak, along with a pair of faded jeans and well-worn tan workboots. He also wears a pair of sunglasses during the day, to protect his eyes from the harsh Texan sun.
Good, Evil, or Neutral: Good
Strengths: Being physically stronger than most people, Dusty is capable of swinging larger weapons than some others would be capable of with relative ease, such as sledgehammers or heavy fire axes. While he prefers fighting with a weapon in his hands, however, he is more than capable of defending himself while unarmed as well, having been in more than his fair share of fights both at school and on the street, and he is at times capable of shrugging off more punishment than an average person would be able to. He is also a bit of a handyman; while guns are outside of his range of expertise, he can fix minor things and work on things like cars, although his experience with such a thing is more personal than it is actually trained at a workshop somewhere and his ability is somewhat limited as a result.
Weaknesses: While he can use a gun if it is absolutely necessary, his accuracy suffers greatly due to a relative lack of experience with them, despite coming from a family that enjoys taking hunting trips. He is also a bit more of a follower than a leader, and he tends to call people by their last name or something impersonal as a way of keeping them at arm's length, which can occasionally be taken as having an attitude problem. This combined with his decision to routinely never trust anyone at face value until proven otherwise can cause friction amongst others, although he considers it merely being practical. Lastly, while he can hold his own in a fist-fight, he lacks any form of martial training, and would only stand a chance against a well-trained opponent on his own if he has some way of wearing them down.
Weapon Of Choice (Within reason): Sledgehammer or any other form of large melee weapon, within reason.
Personality:
A friendly, if a bit rough around the edges individual, Dusty can occasionally be considered to be a strange one. He treats everyone more or less politely as long as they are mentally sane, but also as informally as possible, sticking to a last name basis to keep feelings of friendship out of the equation until he can form a more clear-cut opinion of the person in question. He has a very clear-cut way of seeing things; people are either his friends or they're not, and they're either good or more inclined to evil, and he judges people according to their actions, not by their words or the opinions of others. He abides by his own personal moral code of chivalry, and occasionally has a bit of a flirty personality, often remarking that he is entirely unable to refuse a request from a pretty face, but this has its limits. While he lacks leadership qualities on the whole, he is nevertheless tough, dependable and unwilling to leave others behind, making him the perfect person to take with you to bash a few skulls in.
History:
Born to a working class family in the American South, Dusty's early life was as normal as one could expect. While he didn't necessarily have everything he may have wanted, his needs were more than provided for, making it basically the ideal childhood anyone could ask for. As he grew older he would eventually take an interest in his father's work, and would go to work in the realm of construction with him -- at least part time through school. Later his interest would expand to restoring old cars and working on them, but he chose this as a hobby rather than a profession.
As normal childhoods are prone to causing, however, boredom eventually set in, and Dusty found himself getting into fights more and more often at school, and was regularly placed in detention for it. His parents, however, were quite adamant for some reason that none of it was his fault, and while he did still have to deal with the consequences (in this case, detention), they didn't really care so much about what he did so long as his grades were high, which they were. This would become his life for a good few years, but it would eventually change one day, as out of the blue the summer break before his senior year of high school began, his distant cousin Josh would call him up and ask if he would like to go with him and his girlfriend Emily to Mexico for the summer.
Dusty readily accepted, and after a very long road trip, he found himself in the small town of Strickton, Texas -- the location of a zombie outbreak.
