Character Name: Taryn Allison Richie Hale, but mostly likes being called Tara or Allie.
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Austin, Texas.
Physical Appearance (Photo or description): Standing at 5'11, she is fairly tall among most women. Her body type would generally be called fit and considering the work she does, it isn't unreasonable think that. Long black hair reaching down to her back, with bangs down to her eyebrows. Her face is heart shaped, a slightly pointed chin. Alongside high cheekbones, Tara has fairly full lips and prominent, piercing blue eyes. Her nose looks refined, much like the rest of her, despite the country appearance otherwise. Taryn has a scar on her right eyebrow, something she earned from falling off her favorite horse, it left a mark that forced the hair to never grow back.
Clothing wise, Tara likes long sleeved shirts and tank tops on her upper body while she usually wears jeans on her lower with cowboy boots. She usually tries to fit something green on her, usually a green flannel shirt. On top of all that, she sometimes likes to wear a cowboy hat. Just for the look of it. And it definitely helps with the Texas sun. Currently she is wearing a green flannel shirt over an all white tank top, a pair of blue jeans, a white cowboy hat, and black cowboy boots. On her side is a holster and nestled within is her family's revolver.
Good, Evil, or Neutral: Good
Strengths: Crack shot with her revolver, she has practiced with her family gun since she was a child. She is also fairly well trained in using other types of guns, but prefers her revolver for any mid to short range encounters. She is even capable of using it to hit things, but isn't too keen on the idea of dirtying her weapon. Her "southern" charm shines loud and proud through interaction with her. A kind and sweet disposition, Taryn will often go out of her way to show kindness to others. Even if they don't entirely deserve it. Due to yearly hunting trips with her friends, she is fairly skilled at hunting and tracking. Though, only certain things.
Taryn isn't lacking in physical strength. Due to the hard labor she puts in at her ranch, Tara can manage pretty impressive feats of physical strength considering the way she looks. She can be seen as attractive, depending on what people consider as attractive, though she doesn't do much to show it off. And finally, she has a fair amount of stamina and can keep up with most everyone. Alongside that, years of home repairs have made her a bit of a handyman. She can fix some things, if she's had the experience, and can build with some help. Not what you'd expect from a carpenter, but still. Something.
Weaknesses: She has a weakness for family and friends. Willing to dig them out of any hole they bury themselves in, even if it means getting caught in the exact same situation they find themselves in. Taryn holds her morals above most else in this regard, and may even help people simply to be friendly. Something that comes from being moderately religious, believing that everyone deserves a chance. Though, usually only one. Tara finds herself attached to objects or animals, including her car and horse. So she may find herself going out of her way in a wild attempt to keep them safe.
Taryn cannot fight hand to hand, it is something she never had the chance to learn. She may be able to swing a weapon, but not as hard as someone who's generally had practice with said object. So whether or not she can hit it hard enough to cause actual damage is something she is faced with when not using her preferred weapon. Tara does not know when to quit, and her persistence could very well become the bane of her existence. It is almost impossible to take her eyes off the prize, whatever the prize may be. Even if said prize could lead to her to an unplesant end to her.
Weapon Of Choice (Within reason): Her family revolver. It is a heavily modified Colt Army Model 1860, fitted with a 6 round cylinder. The handle is plated in ivory. It is very ornate, silver plated, adorned with various golden vine or barbed wire lines reaching from the handle all the way to the barrel. The family insignia of a barbed Lone Star is on both sides of the handle, displayed proudly and the obvious main focus of the revolver itself. It was modified since her great grandfather bought it, being that her family always had it on their hip. It is two of a kind, with the other hanging above the fireplace at her ranch.
Personality: A kind soul, Taryn is a fairly good individual. She will often misjudge people in favor of seeing them much like she sees herself: a regular, every day person. Taryn is very thick skinned, insults don't often phase or bother her. She often seems them as jokes or cute no matter who they come from. Often optimistic, she sees every situation as salvageable or something she can fix with enough hard work. Something that has led to disaster more times than one, but something she never really learns from. Unless her hand is forced, she generally won't give up in most any situations. Tara likes to show she's tough no matter what, and doesn't let anyone past that wall. No matter what happens to her, getting any emotion beyond what she's regularly capable of displaying would require nothing less than a tank.
She believes in hard work, and will often rally others to work just as hard as she does to make sure they can survive. It's how she operates, and she refuses to let people half-ass their way through life if she can help it. She believes in god, and every other Sunday will find herself in a church, which accounts for a lot of her morals.
History: Born in a hospital in Austin, Texas, Tara was the first and only child of Buddy and Bonnie Hale. Owners of the Lone Star Grange, a medium sized cattle ranch that had been around for decades. Her father expected a boy and her mother prayed for a girl, but God had given her mother a girl. Though, as far as Buddy was concerned, Taryn was as much a man as any other. She never got much special treatment from anyone but her mother, and when she was old enough her father treated her the same as any of the other ranch hands. Being that most of them were male, she didn't often find herself wearing dresses or having sleepovers.
Taryn, despite the non-preferential treatment from her father, was always the apple of her father's eye. She worked hard, she never complained, and she loved every minute of it. Tara found herself in a public school system, one she always preferred due to seeing people her own age. It was there she found a lot of like-minded individuals and friends. Her charming demeanor earned her that much. She wasn't always the smartest, but she kept a steady average in grades and never faltered. Never got below a D, at least. She knew it would only go badly back at home, so she would keep her grades at C or above. Tara never saw much use in all of school, she already knew everything she needed to. Her objective in life was to keep the family ranch healthy and prosperous. But she kept with school due to her mother and father's persistence, of course.
Her life was fairly normal, considering her situation. Ignoring a few minor hiccups, like the scar she wears proudly from her first horse, she never had too many problems in life. She got her first horse when she was 15, her first car when she was 17, and she began devoting her life to her ranch even more from then on out. She accomplished what she needed to in her life, and that was all that mattered to her. Making connections with the nearby towns to get the supplies they needed, hiring ranch hands to help with the work when the situation called for it, and taking part in what she could to make sure everything went smoothly.
At 19 years old, she first took interest in her family revolvers. The interest mostly came from her friends outside the ranch. Some of them would take a yearly trip to some new, exotic place Tara had never been and would hunt. They would show her all kinds of interesting weapons or animals they killed. Her father was never one to let her take either off their display, but figured 19 was old enough to learn to use guns. She was a natural, very skilled at firing a revolver or rifle. Something mirrored by her father, who was just as skilled as her. Give or take a couple years experience. It didn't take long for her father to finally allow her to carry around her family gun with pride. Just as he used to do whenever he rode into town.
It didn't take long for her friends to figure out her skills at shooting, with how often she would sport the revolver on her side. After that, she began being invited to them. Though, she would always get homesick. Staying off the ranch too long would always make her sad. It was just something she was used to. But, Tara enjoyed hunting none-the-less. A much different experience from the usual ranching she was accustomed to.
At 26, she's finally come into her own. Her mother and father have hit the age where they have thought about giving the ranch to her, and most of the ranch's important responsibilities have gone to her. Though, it only took a single trip to the nearby town of Strickton to find herself locked in a Chinese restaurant while the dead roamed the streets freely.
Location At Time Of Outbreak: Heading to Strickton to gather supplies for her ranch.
