Character Name: Anastasia Orumov
Age: 83 (Physically 17)
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Boulder, Colorado
Race: Vampire
Physical Appearance (Photo or description):
Anastasia is what one would call a pretty girl, with light brown skin and long, cherry red hair which reaches her shoulderblades when not tied back as it usually is in a long ponytail, while her bangs frame her face. Her outfits change often and range to various different styles of clothing throughout the RPG, but in terms of her usual outfit it is a simple white henley shirt with the sleeves pushed up to the elbows, along with a pair of well-worn and faded rodeo jeans and black converse shoes.
In terms of physicality she stands at the rather short height of 5'2" and has a slender, lithe and small build, though her appearance belies her strength: she is able to crush a man's skull in her hands if need be. Most striking about her appearance is her eyes, however, which are a deep shade of blue, though they dull to an almost stormy-grey color if she has neglected to feed for a while.
Good, Evil, or Neutral: Good
Strengths: Owing to her newfound life, Anastasia possesses all the strengths one would expect of a vampire: superior strength, greatly heightened senses, fast reflexes and extremely sharp teeth hidden beneath her gums that can cut right through the bone of a human if she so desires to snap down hard enough. Her main strength, however, is her speed: though she does not remember it, she enjoyed running in her former human life, and is now capable of sprinting up to 50 miles per hour, much like the mountain lions she enjoys so much as meals. In addition she is quite a tracker, and her small frame makes her rather stealthy, making her excellent for any situation where stealth (or running away) is key.
Weaknesses: The gift of vampirism, unfortunately, brings about certain weaknesses: though she is fully capable of going out in the daylight and even interacting with humans where desired, her abilities are slightly stunted as a result of being out in the rays of the sun. Fire will burn her skin like any other vampire, and she can even be killed by it as a result if care is not taken, while UV lights and flashbangs are capable of blinding her. Blood drawn from the corpse of a dead human being can act as a poison, and while this in itself is not fatal, it causes great agony and can paralyze in large amounts, leaving her vulnerable. Her skin is ice cold like a corpse, which can potentially give her away at a touch, though she is inconspicuous and practiced enough at playing human to blend in well enough with the population at large and generally avoid detection.
Weapon Of Choice (Within reason): Fangs (An entire maw of razor sharp teeth that extend over her human teeth from the gum-line, on the top and bottom)
Abilities:
Enhanced Strength: Vampires possess startling physical strength, to the capacity of crushing a human's skull in their hands with little effort or picking up and throwing people twice their size over their shoulders.
Enhanced Speed: Vampires are amongst the fastest of supernatural creatures, rivaled only by werewolves and those possessing teleportation abilities, and can at times appear to be little more than a blur to untrained human eyes. While all vampires have this trait, Anastasia is significantly more nimble than the average vampire, capable of running just over 50 miles per hour at a flat-out sprint.
Enhanced Stamina: Despite their constant hunger, vampires don't tire out easily -- sleep is a luxury to them when bored, not so much a requirement, and they can sprint for miles on end or tear through entire mobs of humans and be relatively unfazed by the end of it.
Enhanced Durability: Vampires cannot usually be killed by conventional weapons -- a blunt object like a baseball bat is more likely to break across their bodies and do little more than annoy them, though being shot with an ordinary bullet or pierced with an arrow or crossbow bolt can occasionally cause physical pain depending on how strong or weak the vampire is.
Razor-sharp fangs, which extend from the gums above her teeth on the upper and lower levels, and are sharp enough to bite through iron, or cleave through bone to tear limbs from her prey.
Healing Factor: Vampires heal at a faster rate than humans in general from everything except the amputation of a limb. Feeding on human or animal blood can increase the speed of the healing process exponentially, and are almost a requirement for severe injuries.
Immortality, in the general sense that a vampire will never age, nor acquire any sort of conventional disease that can hamper or kill a human. Being what is essentially a walking corpse has its perks.
All abilities are generally reliant on diet: vampires who feed on humans tend to be significantly stronger than those who take to feeding on animals instead, and though all of them are dangerous, a starving vampire is little threat to most people. While unable to die from starvation in itself, it makes them easy prey for creatures stronger than them.
Personality: A loose cannon of various emotions and speaking in a manner that can seem unusually old-fashioned, Anastasia can safely be considered a strange one, even for vampires. Known amongst her "peers" at school for her generally frigid, icy demeanor and introverted, distant attitude towards the humans around her, she is nevertheless surprisingly warm and loving amongst the other members of her "family" and those she considers friends, and holds a surprising amount of romantic ideals hidden deep within her brain, likely due to seeing every romance movie since movies were invented and reading a surprising amount of romance novels as well, which is the personality one can generally expect assuming they're capable enough of getting close to her. She can also be known for her smarmy remarks and witty jokes during hunting trips with her family, but when the going gets tough, she is certainly not afraid to put her game face on and get her hands dirty. And she does it quite well.
History: Born in the town of Boulder, Colorado in 1907, Anastasia's human life was certainly different than the one of present days, in an age where cars no longer existed and women wore nothing but dresses. While perhaps not entirely idyllic for the time period, she couldn't have asked for much, and generally lived a happy life: until not long after her seventeenth birthday, the relationship between her father and mother had taken a turn for the worse, and she'd come home from school early to find her father in bed with another woman. It had disgusted her, and she promptly fled her house, deciding that it was the final straw and that it was time for her to have a life of her own, away from the constant arguing of her parents.
Owing to her family being somewhat poor, however, they had no alternative methods of transportation, so she decided to walk through the wilderness to the next town over, hoping to find a way to one of the larger cities and get a higher paying job. While in hindsight she knew it was a bad idea to go such a long distance on her own, at the time she was too angry to care.
While she was wandering, however, she accidentally strayed too close to a nest of bear cubs, whose mother happened to be nearby. What followed was typical of a bear attack; Anastasia was mauled nearly to death as a result, and would have died if not for the fact that a vampire had been hunting in the woods nearby and heard her screams before coming to her aid and slaughtering the bear. The creature looked like an angel to her in the beauty of the sunset's rays, but Anastasia had little time to dwell on the prospect before passing out from her wounds.
Three days later she woke to find herself in a very unfamiliar place, a two-story house somewhere out in the wilderness, her body cold, her eyes strangely used to the darkness, and a painful burn in her throat. She found the 'angel' that had saved her sitting by her bedside, along with a man she didn't recognize, who proceeded to explain everything that had happened: that the golden-haired 'angel' -- his adopted daughter, Arina -- had found her being mauled in the woods and had carried her over 100 miles on her back to their home, not wishing for her to die.
She had been too far gone by the time that they returned, however: so the only cure at that point had been to make her like them. She would no longer age or get sick. Human food would taste disgusting to her, her heart no longer pulsed in her chest, and the thirst for blood would burn her throat for the rest of her unnatural life. She had become a vampire. They offered her a place amongst their 'family' of three: Grigoriy Orumov, the Russian-born patriarch of the 'family', who had been alive since the days when America was little more than thirteen colonies under British rule; Sara Aurora, a vampire who had been alive since the days of the American Civil War, and Arina Orumov, the youngest addition of their family, who Grigoriy himself had changed when he found her dying of the Spanish Flu in his hospital. Given that she saw few options available, Anastasia accepted, and took the last name of the family for herself.
The early years were very hard on her, however. She possessed no memories whatsoever of her former human life, and the thirst for blood was next to impossible to ignore -- though Grigoriy had told her that it would dim somewhat with age and was simply hard on all newborn vampires, his words did little to help her so early on. She found that her family had certain 'ideals' when it came to hunting prey: they fed entirely on animals, and she was expected to do the same. She would spend days at a time in the wilderness, hunting the various beasts that the wild contained and draining them dry, starting out small and simple at first with deer and elk, but eventually she discovered that she greatly enjoyed the taste of mountain lions, and proceeded to focus on them wherever she could.
Ten years into her life, however, she had a bout of rebelliousness not unlike all teenagers, and decided to run away from home just as she had in her human life. She went to the big city, something her family had always avoided, and soon began hunting humans. She focused only on the most monstrous of human society: gang members, drug dealers, murderers and rapists who stalked the dark alleyways, but her prey were few and far between, so occasionally a normal human being would go missing one day to sustain her. She found that the humans in the big cities cared very little if a normal person went missing on occasion, but she soon found that her idea of a 'new' hunting tactic had failed spectacularly, and that she'd done very little to clean up the streets: for every drug dealer or murderer she drained, five more took their places, and occasionally having to kill innocents began to weigh on her conscience. Still, she persisted for around five years, but eventually gave up and slinked away back to her adopted family, who welcomed her back with open arms. She recommitted herself to their ways soon after that, and remained with them ever since.
In the present day Anastasia is still much the same, though her wardrobe and physical appearance has changed throughout the years to be more modern.
