So this rp (name is still WIP) the general premise is this: A group of teenagers will jump start the apocalypse by completing a ritual represented in the Necronomicon because of course they will. This will unleash something akin to a 'magical virus' that infects people and the very world around it. A small scale zombie outbreak will begin and snowball from there.
But zombies won't be the only threat. The environment will be warped by this magical perversion as well so the setting will slowly begin to resemble something out of a Lovecraftian story with plenty of eldritch horrors. To help survive this threat, characters will be able to develop unique abilities, some might say magical. For example, I plan on having a character that is a beastmaster type. She can enthrall creatures with a touch and even warp their physical appearance into something more grotesque but stronger.
These abilities will start off weak but grow as the story unfolds so we don't murder everything right off the bat. If ya have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll answer them to the best of my abilities.

Ideas for creatures that might be nice for our characters to fight against:
- The Crying thing: A very tall, but skinny monster with enlongated legs, arms, and black, rotting skin. All the features of it's body are usually hidden underneath an abnormally large black robe, one adorned with rips and tears, that trails actoss the ground as she walks. It covers all her body, only revealing the rotten core of her when she lifts her arms or if taken off. Her skin is a black, red, and brown mess, looking as if someone spread a thin piece of rubber over something it clearly didn't fit over, the 'skin' moving with every step she takes. She wears a porcelain mask to hide her facial features, and rarely takes it off. She is often crying, walking around looking for others. When she finds a target, or targets, she homes in on the closest one and will not stop until they are within her grasp.
Once she has them, she examines them. If they are what she percieves as beautiful, she will proceed to use her claw-like finger tips to slowly, but with surgeon like precision, tear off their face and try it on. If it's suitable, she keeps it and leaves her victim. If it isn't, she will proceed to kill her victim in a blind rage. To her, beauty must be preserved. But all must die.
The basic idea is that she was formerly a model who was twisted into a horrible wretch of a 'human'(if you can call her that). She walks around, bawling as loud as she can, only stopping when she is examining(looking for hiding victims, seeing if she likes their face, ect.).
The Ribbon Dancer: In large parking lot-like structure(or any large structure with plenty of room), there exists thin, floating lines of red ribbons. At first glance, it looks eerie but not anything to be feared. The ribbons float in place, much like a balloon that has lost a lot of it's helium. It slowly rises and falls, not looking like a threat.
But if someone were to touch the ribbons, they would find themselves cut. The ribbons are thin, but hold no blades. Somehow, ignoring all logic and sense of reason, they slice though anything they touch. Like small razor blades. No real problem, though, right? Just a couple of ribbons to traverse.
But inside lies a creature, one completely wrapped in the red ribbons filling the building. Yet...it isn't. Some of the ribbons seem to come from underneath the cars or out of vents. Out of cracks in the ground and out of small balls of ribbon on the floor.
The creature is a big human-like mass of muscle of sinew, each movement forcing the ribbons to cut deeper. It's face is a sickly shade of brown and yellow, an inhuman and enlongated smile stretching well beyond where it's face ends. It's eyes are missing, or closed. It's impossoble to tell. It waits amidst the mass of ribbons, standing perfectly still. It does stay still, though. The ribbons act like tripwire, a friendly reminder the creature's next victim approaches.
It will dance. An intoxicating, beautiful dance of apinnj going and twirls as it moves closer to it's victim. When it finds them, it's less beautiful. It will use the ribbons wrapped around it's body to rend the victim of their own flesh and clothes. Once it finishes, the ribbons wrap themselves around the dead and take control. Spawning more.
The idea here is simple. Some area our characters need to go through will be filled with these and need to deal with it. It could be multiple occurrances, or just one. But every death creates another.

First off just ideas for powers or curses for characters. These don't all have to positive, you can make a character doomed to become a cursed monstrosity if you want to.
Predation: A curse that dooms its wielder to eventually devolve (or possibly seen as evolve depending on the character's mentality) into a monstrosity that possesses the qualities of earthly predators. The curse advances the more blood the cursed spills. As this happens, their body begins to morph to develop predatory qualities. Wings, claws, an elongated snout like dogs, hind legs like most land based preds, even aquatic features like anglers if you want to get really nasty. The sky's the limit here.
Money, Dear Boy: This is one of my personal favorites and will be feature on a villain of mine later. The character is wealthy and basically uses money as a medium to cast spells. Except the spells are just something the character wants done like say kill someone poor. They'd voice their desire, a dollar amount would become intrinsically known to them, and they would toss the determine amount into the air. Said cash would then be consumed in green fel flames (whatever strikes your fancy), and their desire would become reality. This one has a lot of potential to be fun.
Soul of Stone: The character has the ability to transform their body into stone. But this ability only manifests itself when the character has strong self confidence, or faith in oneself (however you want to spin it). The ability is weak at beginning with only the capability to manifest stone fists. The stronger the whatever the that fuels the power becomes though, the more of their body is able to transform and even manipulate the surrounding earth at the highest levels. One of my main characters will be using this.
Hypeman: This character can buff others by hyping them up verbally. Think the world's best wingman. Pretty standard fare but I love the name.
Leg Day: This bro will have the power of super kicks and thunderous calves. The legs of the Hulk and not much else to say here.
