This is as good an opportunity as any to start gathering the components for the gloves. "If you'd like, I can accompany you. Your source wouldn't mind that, would they?" Trent asks Rebecca after brief deliberation. "Well, they had requested Frank after I told them about him, but if you want to help, I'd be more than happy to accept." Rebecca replies, her facial expression lighting up significantly. Whatever she went through in the sewers really did a number on her. Her demeanor nearly did a 180 just now. "It's 10:10 right now, and they said to meet them at the Shoal Nightclub in the Yucatan by 11:30, 11:45 at the latest. We need to leave right now." Rebecca is already prepared to depart, but Trent feels otherwise. "Just give me a few minutes, I think we could use a few more hands for this trip." He requests, hoping the reporter will delay for a short time. "Fine, but hurry up. I can't wait for too long." Rebecca concedes, leaning against the vent until Trent returns. "You won't regret it!" Trent waves back as he seeks out Jessie and Lauren to accompany them on the trip. Alright Jessie, you seemed like you wanted to get out into the thick of it so here's your chance. His search doesn't take long as he finds Jessie supervising Excella in a lone room near the break room. He enters abruptly as Jessie rises to her feet, surprised by his sudden appearance. "Hey Jessie, I know this is sudden, but I have a favor to ask. Rebecca and I are about to head out to meet someone, but I think we could use an extra set of hands on the trip. Care to join us?" He asks politely, ignoring the piercing gaze of Excella in the corner. The Italian woman is handcuffed to a bar on the wall with no way to escape, a single cot set up for her to rest on. "Actually, that sounds perfect. Excella will be okay here for now, Rachel can check in on her later." Jessie says excitedly though she tells Trent she'll meet them by the vents shortly. She has business to tend to with Excella first. Now to find Lauren, she seems like a better fit for this situation than Lara. Trent finds Lauren in the training room by her lonesome as he enters. "How's it going, Lauren?" He asks nonchalantly, not wanting to lead with his request. "Just putting a few finishing touches on this climbing ax. Thanks again by the way, I know how important these were to you." Lauren shoots him a grateful smile that doesn't go unnoticed. "Oh no problem, I'm just glad you'll be putting it to use. So listen, I could use your help with something. One of the people in the shelter, her name's Rebecca, she's investigating the outbreak and has to meet her source who might have some information on it. I already offered to help and got Jessie to come along, but I think one more person couldn't hurt to have as back up. I've seen the way you and your sister handle yourselves so it's no contest as to who I'd rather have watching our back. Can you join us?" Trent hopes she'll accept, Lauren's help would be invaluable during the trip. "Of course, I'd be more than happy to help. Are we leaving right now?" Lauren replies as she begins gathering her gear for the trip. "Yeah, we have a little over an hour to get there. Rebecca knows the way." Trent informs her, awaiting the Croft sister to accompany him. "Just let me leave a note for Lara, I'll meet you by the vents." Lauren says, prompting Trent to return to Rebecca. "Lauren's on her way." Trent notifies Rebecca as Jessie joins them. "Wait, do you have a weapon?" Rebecca asks Jessie upon seeing her arrive empty handed. "Well, no. I lost my handgun back in the sewers." Jessie answers in a somewhat embarrassed tone. "Don't worry, I've got you covered." Trent interrupts before Rebecca can reprimand the DHS agent, unclipping the gun holster on his belt. "Here ya go, there's 9 rounds in the magazine, but I don't have any extra ammo. Sorry." He apologizes for the lack of ammo as he gives Jessie his gun. "Wow, thanks. I'll make them count." Jessie replies, genuinely surprised by Trent's generosity. "Don't mention it, you'll get more use out of it than I will anyway; I'm a horrible shot. And excellent, Here's Lauren now." He states while performing a mental checklist of everything they might need. I've got everything I'll need, but we might want to scavenge some ammo while we're out there. We might be taking refuge in the shelter now, but better safe than sorry in this situation."Sorry, that took longer than I expected. Lara knows we're going and said she'd inform Stacey as well. She gave me a few transceivers in case we run into trouble." Lauren fastens a transceiver to her own belt and distributes the remaining one to Trent, trusting him to hold onto it. "Okay, we've wasted enough time. We need to get going, follow me." Rebecca commands, ready to set out and meet her source. She climbs into the vent first, followed by Jessie, Lauren, and finally Trent. Trent begins to familiarize himself with the claustrophobic after having a feeling he will be doing this many more times to come... It takes several minutes to reach the maintenance area of the Royal Flush plaza, but it was a sound and rather relaxing trip in Trent's eyes. Everyone climbs out in a hurry, having had enough of the cramped space. "Okay, the Yucatan Casino is Northeast of here, but we'll have to go through several of the different plazas and casinos. Just stay close and try not to wander off. It's already 10:25, we have a little over an hour now. Let's get moving." Rebecca guides them onward without any further questions, wasting no time in heading toward her source. "Hey Jessie, what's that on your arm?" Trent asks as he spots a black substance on Jessie's coat. "Oh, I don't know. Ew! It's stuck to my sleeve now, this is just great." Jessie grumbles and proceeds to follow Rebecca, her frustration evident for the moment. He merely shrugs and follows the others as this was of no consequence. Trent remains at the rear of the group so he can watch everyone's backs, though the view of so many beautiful women certainly is a bonus. Rebecca confidently struts forward with her handgun down by her side, her demeanor bolstered by the number of people accompanying her. Jessie keeps both hands on her firearm in case anything should surprise them, but she appears calm and not likely to panic. Lauren keeps her left hand in her pocket and her right outstretched to react to the first sign of trouble. All in all, Trent believes they've a very competent group and shouldn't expect to run into very much trouble. The door to a workshop area is ajar, capturing Trent's eye. He allows the others to go on ahead while he stops to investigate. The room has a workbench littered with tools and the like, racks on either side of the entrance complete the small room. Lying on the left rack is a baseball bat and a box of nails, bringing to mind a wicked idea in his mind. "Just maybe..." Trent chuckles under his breath as he takes the nails and drives them into the bat with a hammer, working swiftly so that he may catch up with his companions. The end result is a nail bat adorned with gnarled metal at the end, a fitting weapon against the zombie menace. Awesome, can't wait to see what this sucker will do to a zombie's head.He sprints through the hallway into the Royal Flush Plaza, catching sight of the others as they approach a newspaper stand. The zombies in the immediate area are sparse and preoccupied with the air around them, affording a relaxed pace for once. Trent rushes to Jessie's side as Lauren easily climbs the stand to get a better view of what lies ahead. Jessie shoots Trent an inquisitive gaze at his absence, but elects to keep to herself lest Rebecca lose her temper. "Looks like we might run into trouble up ahead. There's a huge concentration of zombies around the corner, past the dice area." Lauren warns them from above as she kills a zombie that wandered a bit too close with her bow. "Damn it, I knew this was too easy up until now. We should-" Rebecca immediately cuts herself off as a gunshot rings out from ahead. She drops to the ground for cover, unsure of who must be firing at what. "Get down!" Lauren instructs as she goes prone from atop the stand. Trent slides to corner of the stand ahead of Rebecca while Jessie hunkers down as well. Ahead of them, a trio of ruffians wearing gray hoodies and tattered jeans are fleeing downstairs as a horde of zombies gives chase. They stop dead in their tracks after nearly running into the herd that Lauren mentioned, trapped between two masses of undead. "Damn..." Rebecca whispers as the inevitable looms over them. They try to fight their way further into the plaza but are overwhelmed by the zombies' sheer numbers. Unfortunately, the trio merely made things for difficult the group as the new influx of zombies adds to the horde's strength. "There's no way we can fight our way past that." Lauren states simply as she jumps to the ground. "So what can we do? There's a second floor here, maybe we can go up there and come down behind them somewhere." Rebecca proposes, but she is open to other suggestions. "But we don't know what's up there. They ran downstairs to get away from another group of zombies, who's to say there aren't more waiting up there? Maybe there's another way around if we search here." Jessie retorts, presenting them with another possible obstacle. "Those are our only two options without doubling back and going out onto the Silver Strip, I think that's what it was called in the brochure." Lauren adds, a safer option but it will take much longer to do so. Looks like we hit a bump in the road already. We need to reach the Shoal as soon as possible so we can't waste time. Trent ponders the options while everyone discusses other alternatives. Trent Reddick Health: 99% Fatigue: 13% Current time: 10:30 a.m. Inventory: Taser (50%), Pair of brass knuckles (100%), Trench knife (99%), Crowbar (100%), Climbing ax (100%), Machete (100%), Isabela's plans for power gloves, Nail bat (100%) Current Case: The Source: Expires at 11:45 a.m. Entourage: Rebecca Chang: 100%, 9mm handgun (12/24) Jessie McCarney: 100%, .45 handgun (9/0) Lauren Croft: 100%, Compound bow (19 arrows), Climbing axe (100%), 9mm handgun (12/12) Trent's Approval: Jessie McCarney: 64% Acquaintance Lauren Croft: 75% Friend Rebecca Chang: 68% Fellow Survivor A) Head upstairs as Rebecca suggested, it's the most logical choice at this point but Jessie may be right about more of the undead lying in wait. They will have to proceed with caution to avoid any trouble. (Will take 10 minutes total to complete. 45% chance of Rebeca's safety, 55% chance of Jessie's safety, 90% chance of Lauren's safety) B) Search the Plaza as Jessie proposed, there might be a back hall connecting some of the stores they can use to circumvent the zombies. Trent also sees an electronics store nearby, he can take this opportunity to search for a few parts for Isabela's plans .(Will take 16 minutes total to complete. 75% chance of Rebecca's safety, 85% chance of Jessie's safety, 100% chance of Lauren's safety) C) Double back to the strip like Lauren said, it's a sound option but will take a while. They have no idea what is out on the strip at the moment though, if anything is at all. (Will take 25 minutes to complete, ) After voting for a main course of action, who should Trent stick close to while they proceed (This is mainly a way to build approval, but it will affect a certain scenario when they finally meet the source:) 1) Stay close to Rebecca, this will put Tent at the front in case they run into any trouble and Rebecca may find his nearby presence comforting. (+4% approval, 10% to Rebecca's safety rate) 2) Stay in the middle by Jessie, he can react if something befalls her and she seems like she might appreciate his company. (+5% approval, +10% to Jessie's safety rate) 3) Walk with Lauren, she doesn't need the assistance but Trent likes her company. (+2% approval, No need to raise her safety rate)

"With such little time, we really don't have any other choice. We'll have to head upstairs if we're going to get there in time." Trent states, offering his support for Rebecca's plan. "Guess it's settled then. Who's going up first though?" Lauren asks, preferring to remain near in the rear to keep an eye on everyone. "That'll be me. We all know the drill by now." Trent doesn't waste time repeating himself as everyone prepares to bypass the zombies on the ground floor. Trent sets off first with Rebecca close behind, gripping her pistol with both hands. I have a bad feeling something's waiting for us up there, I better stay close to Rebecca. With this thought in mind, he slows his pace just enough to almost be side by side with Rebecca, a gesture she doesn't fail to notice.
"Do you need me to protect you, Trent? I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself ya know." She remarks as they approach the stairs, Jessie and Lauren in tow. "Oh I know, but just call it a hunch that something might be waiting for us up there." He replies while arming himself with his nail bat. "If you say so." Rebecca gives Trent a mischievous wink, but she seems to appreciate his concern. "Are we ready?" Jessie asks as she and Lauren stop near the two of them. "Just about, I want to try and see if we can spot anything from down here first." Trent tells her as he gives the second floor a quick scan. "It's no good, I already tried scoping it out as we came across the way. We'll be going in blind." Lauren adds, one step ahead of everyone. "Good job. Can't say I'm surprised, that seems to be my luck. Here goes." Trent says with false confidence, his stomach suddenly churning with anticipation.
He slowly creeps up the stairs while remaining hunched over, an almost inaudible noise emanating from above. Yeah, there's definitely something here. Fuck, maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. Trent suppresses his apprehension in order to advance though he keeps his weapon at the ready. At the top of the stairs he spots the creature across the plaza by a cellphone kiosk. It appears almost zombielike, but there are a few distinctions Trent makes from first glance. It is tall and thin, almost appearing as it were emaciated. It lacks the rotting skin of its undead brethren but retains the tattered clothing it had worn before zombification. It was clearly female judging by the half head of hair on its left side and the torn shirt that reveals a pair of breasts. Its skin is a shade of pink, almost as though it is pure muscle tissue. It is still wearing a heeled shoe on its right foot, but its left foot has mutated into a long, three toed appendage. The most defining feature of the new beast is how it uses its tongue to lash out and acquire meat as it dines on a corpse. Well that's definitely new.
"Shhh!" Trent signals to the others to remain silent as the thing is yet unaware of their presence. Rebecca reaches the top of the stairs first, but she doesn't watch the ground as she steps on a broke piece of plastic. The plastic shatters under foot and echoes throughout the plaza, immediately alerting their new friend. It shoots Rebecca a bloodthirsty glare and lets loose a deafening screech. Trent must shield his ears to prevent his eardrums from bursting as does everyone else. While everyone is distracted the creature swiftly leaps into action. Its movements are nimble and rapid; the creature's protracted limbs affording it immense agility. It swings over the railing of the second floor and begins crawling alongside it in a display of acrobatic prowess. "Move!" Trent warns as his ears stop ringing, dragging Rebecca toward the wall as Lauren does the same with Jessie.
"It's moving too fast, I can't line up a shot." Lauren laments as the creature draws every closer. "Watch out!" Jessie is the first to see its tongue lash out toward the British woman, attacking from an impressive distance of close to twelve feet. She tackles Lauren to the ground at the last moment, saving her from a vicious injury. "Thanks!" She says gratefully before climbing to her feet. Jessie merely nods in response, attempting to help with her own firearm now. "What's it doing now?" Rebecca asks anxiously as it drops below their line of sight. "No idea, but stay back." Trent warns as it must be preparing to ambush them.
Almost on cue it launches itself into the air, sailing toward them. Lauren and Jessie barrage it with gunfire as does Rebecca, riddling its gaunt body with bullets. Its clawed hands hang menacingly in the airs, but it is dead before it hits the ground due to its wounds. Unfortunately it sails directly toward Rebecca and collides with her at full force. "Aaagh!" She shouts in pain, losing hold of her handgun as the momentum of the creature carries backward. She slams into the wall before Trent can intervene.
"Rebecca! Are you okay?" Trent asks as he quickly lifts the creature's body off of her. "Yeah, my back just hurts a little." She says as Trent helps her up. The creature's claws tore a hole in Rebecca's blouse along the left side, revealing her smooth skin beneath. "Here's your gun, are you sure you're alright?" Jessie inquires after giving Rebecca her gun back. "I'm sure, we don't have time to stand around talking though. Let's get moving." Rebecca gives her back a quick pat and sets off toward the Yucatan, her desire to break the story driving her on. Damn, maybe I underestimated Rebecca. She's one tough woman.
Jessie gives Trent a sideways glance before pursuing Rebecca. "Let's make sure she doesn't get herself killed, shall we?" Lauren jokes despite the severity of the situation, motioning for Trent to follow. "Yeah, no kidding." He double checks the body of their foe to ensure it is deceased, planting his bat firmly in its skull for a double tap. "Shouldn't have to worry about you getting back up." Trent kicks its body aside before rejoining everyone else.
The journey through the rest of the plaza is easy enough, and they confront a small handful of zombies that are easily dispatched by Lauren and Trent. Along the way, Jessie complains about the black sludge on her sleeve and comments on how it seems to have grown. "What do you mean? It looks about the same size as before." Rebecca says after examining her sleeve. "Are you sure? I swear it's gotten bigger." Jessie stares long and hard at her sleeve as they make their way through the Slot Ranch Casino. "Everyone be quiet for a moment. Do you hear that?" Lauren asks everyone to stop in the middle of the casino as she cups her right hand around her ear.
Trent hears the noisy thumps above them now as well, originating from within the ventilation overhead. The ambient sound of the slot machines nearly drowned it out. It stops directly atop him as everyone glances attentively upward. The creature from the Royal Flush bursts forth from the ceiling, sending debris hurtling toward Trent. It suspends itself from the ceiling with immense flexibility, proving the creature's tenacity. What the fuck?! I even double tapped this thing! Trent instinctively dives backward but comes into contact with a zombie. He knocks the ghoul over by accident, forcing him into its rigid clutches
Lauren attempts to drag Rebecca and Jessie to safety, but their assailant has other plans. It whips its tongue at Jessie, who ducks to avoid it but becomes separated from the others. It lashes at Rebecca next in one fluid motion. She staggers aside and dodges the swipe though she becomes isolated just like Jessie. "Take cover somewhere!" Lauren warns as she rolls behind a slot machine for protection. Rebecca and Jessie do the same, but the creature keeps them pinned by sweeping its elongated tongue through the air.
Trent continues to struggle with the zombie before finally tossing it off of him. He leaps to his feet and arms himself with his nail bat. He fells the zombie with a brutal swing to the top of its head, piercing its brain with the nails. His victory is short lived after he witnesses what has happened with the creature. He goes unnoticed for the time being, allowing him an opportunity to intervene and get someone to safety. But who will he help first?

Rebecca's in the tightest spot, I'll have to get her out first. Trent makes his decision quickly, and none too soon as the Proto-Licker's tongue misses Rebecca's exposed head by mere inches. "Whoa!" The reporter gasps as she ducks back behind the slot machine. Trent scans the area for something to begin his distraction. A large rock at his feet is the perfect tool to kick off his act. He hurtles it at the Proto's head, striking it square on the back of its ravaged dome. His plan is a success as it turns its full attention to him momentarily. Oh shit! Its lengthy tongue shot over him as he narrowly dodged the attack, springing backward onto the floor. "Right here, I'm the one you want." He shouts at their adversary, reaching for his nail bat should the need for it arise. He motions discreetly for Rebecca to make a break for it, staring down the Proto all the while. "What are you waiting for? I'm right here!" Trent makes a bold move by climbing to his feet and spreading his arms, making himself a more appealing target for the creature. It almost takes the bait, but Jessie panics and makes a fatal mistake. Rebecca had almost made it to safety in the short amount of time Trent gave her, but Jessie pursued her without pausing. The blonde agent forgoes all sense of subtlety, her arms sprawling to get away. Trent's warnings fell on deaf ears as he saw the flash of yellow at her feet, an almost comical reminder of what happened to her partner. The Proto whipped its tongue in Jessie's direction, but she barely sees it coming. A banana peel had been left in the Slot Ranch Casino's floor, directly in her path. The curse of peel strikes again, her left heel slipping on the ill placed banana peel. Jessie loses her balance and sails into the Proto's tongue, piercing her right shoulder in one fell swoop. She screams in pain, but there's nothing more she can do. "J-Jessie!" Trent roars, sprinting toward her body while losing all semblance of thought. Their foe scoops her up to the ceiling before Trent can reach her. Jessie pleads silently with wide eyes for someone to save her somehow, but she disappears into the ventilation system with her captor, her fate left up to the imagination. "Holy shit!" Rebecca gasps after returning to Trent and Lauren's side. "I couldn't get a clear shot at it. I should've tried though, it would've been better than doing nothing." Lauren snaps at herself, feeling responsible in some way. "Don't do that Lauren. It's my fault, I acted without thinking things through like I always do. I should've had you wait until I managed to get it down somehow." Trent reassured the British woman, garnering a brief flash of a smile. "Do you both hear yourselves? We can't stay here blaming ourselves for what happened, it took her toward the Yucatan and the Shoal. We're heading there anyway, maybe we can intercept them while there's still time." Rebecca countered passionately, gazing at them both with an intensity Trent had yet to see. Maybe there's more to Rebecca than I thought, she seems to care for more than just her story. "She is right. Perhaps we can do something." Lauren replies first, setting her sights on their destination. "Heh, looks like it's already decided. Let's go." Trent says as Rebecca assumes the lead, taking them through the Food Court into the Yucatan Casino. Trent and Lauren clear the path as necessary, no longer progressing as cautious is a luxury they can no longer afford. It doesn't take them long to reach the Yucatan at such a rate, leaving a swath of bodies in their wake. The crusade continues into the Shoal, the group stopping for nothing to reach their goal. It is only a matter of time before they are standing in front of the doors to the nightclub, panting for several moments to catch their breath. "Alright, w-we finally made it. That was a hell of a work out." Trent states while limbering himself up with a set of stretches. Lauren merely nods as she does the same, leaving Rebecca to stare at the doors contemplatively. "Something on your mind?" Trent asks before they enter, noticing Rebecca's silence. "Just wondering what we'll find out. This has been eating away at me since the entire thing started. I just have to know the truth." Rebecca replies with a hint of conviction in her voice, offering Trent a bit of insight into her personality. "There's no point in postponing this, let's go inside." Lauren declares, marching past Rebecca to open the doors to the club. A wave of bass hits them as the music blares at top volume, drowning the club in pounding bass and pulsing lights. "Keep an eye out." Trent refuses to drop his guard, scanning the area for anyone else present. "Are they even here?" Lauren asks as they wander toward the center of the club. "They have to be!" Rebecca refuses to believe her source would stand them up, they've come too far for such a thing to happen. Rebecca is swiftly proven right, but not in the fashion she had wanted. A shot rings out from the left, prompting Lauren and Trent to drop to the ground. Rebecca's reflexes are unfortunately slower, allowing their assailants to strike for the most vulnerable member of the group. Rebecca finds herself swiftly taken hostage by two familiar figures who burst forth from opposite sides of the room. TK's voluptuous twin assistants stand behind Rebecca, the one in the yellow dress holding a katana to her throat. One of them binds Rebecca's wrists with a quick knot of rope, completing the capture. "Rebecca, we told you to come alone. We were ready to tell you everything, but look what you made us do." Amber, the twin holding Rebecca, says in a sultry voice. She bends the Asian woman forward as she keeps her hands trapped behind her back, offering a clear view of her ample chest. "Everything and then some, Ms. Chang. We would have been very...forthcoming. Observe." Crystal, the other win in the blue dress, motions for Amber to lift Rebecca upright. Rebecca's face is one of constant fright, fully at the mercy of captors for now. Crystal grabs Rebecca's cheeks with her right hand and very suddenly plants a long, seductive kiss on her lips. "What the fuck?" Trent finally blurts out, unable to enjoy the twisted sight. Lauren remains silent but her hands slowly move into position on her bow. Crystal finally ends the kiss after drawing it out for nearly half a minute, leaving Rebecca dumbfound but still stricken with fear. "Don't hog her all to yourself." Amber quips while running her left hand along the front of Rebecca's blouse and groping both of her breasts. The reporter's lip quivers, but she is still quiet. "That's enough for now, we'll-" Crystal beings to talk, but she is interrupted by the release of Lauren's bow. An arrow flies past Trent's shoulder and nicks Crystal's right arm, opening a small cut along her shoulder. "You bitches talk too much." Lauren scolds as both twins drop all pretenses. "You whore! No one does that to my other half!" Amber roared, pulling her sword to Rebecca's throat. Crystal stood beside her with her own katana held high, ready to begin the battle. Trent cast Lauren an auspicious glance, but he doesn't think she saw it in the flashing lights. Guess it's us against them. They've got Rebecca though, we need to be careful how we go about this.Trent Reddick Health: 99% Fatigue: 18% Current time: 11:00 a.m. Inventory: Taser (50%), Pair of brass knuckles (100%), Trench knife (99%), Crowbar (100%), Climbing ax (100%), Machete (100%), Isabela's plans for power gloves, Nail bat (99%) Current Case: The Source: On the scene Entourage: Rebecca Chang: 85%, 9mm handgun (12/24) (Hidden in her skirt) Jessie McCarney: Lauren Croft: 100%, Compound bow (18 arrows), Climbing axe (100%), 9mm handgun (9/12) Trent's Approval: Jessie McCarney: Lauren Croft: 75% Friend Rebecca Chang: 77% Friend A) Combat them with deadly force, Trent and Lauren intend to finish them before they have the opportunity to hurt anyone else. They won't go down without a fight anyway. (75% chance of success, 70% chance of Rebecca's survival, 90% chance of Lauren's survival, +3% approval with Rebecca) B) Exercise restraint while facing the twins, as much as they desire to harm them, it would be better overall to take them alive. They can tell them exactly what's going on in the city as well as be used for bargaining chips at some point. (60% chance of success, 58% chance of Rebecca's survival, 80% chance of Lauren's survival, +10% approval with Rebecca if successful) Before you vote, consider the consequences of both actions. This is a major turning point for the story. EDIT: I made a small change with the addition of gaining approval with Rebecca. It totally skipped my mind that she'd be immensely grateful if Trent and Lauren could capture the twins alive.

Damn it, it got Jessie. I know I was focusing on Rebecca, but I didn't want that to happen. Is it going to be possible to rescue her or did we finally lose someone? Anyway, I suppose I'll second Ace's choice. Capturing the twins may be more difficult, but it's the logical choice if we wish to discover the truth. I have a feeling you and Ace have more in store for us than the bland storyline of Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record, Eric.

As much as it pains me to consider this, we need to try and capture these two alive. They're the first, and maybe last, shot we've got at finding out what's happened in the city. I doubt Excella will talk anytime soon from what I've seen of her. Before the battle proceeds, Trent locks eyes with Lauren in a gamble that they might be of the same mind. She nods briefly, gesturing at the arrow in the wall to signify it wasn't meant to be fatal to start with. "Good." Trent mouths the word before turning his attention back to the twins; the two still livid at Lauren's false attempt at assassination.
"You'll stay right there if you know what's good for our mutual acquaintance. You really shouldn't have done that before, we'll be taking our leave now." Crystal begins guiding her sister around Trent and Lauren toward the door, keeping Rebecca between them all the while. "Too scared to stay and face us? I thought better of you two." Trent said with a smirk. "You know, I was thinking the same thing. They know we're too much for them, they'd barely e able to last the night." Lauren adds in her own seductive voice. "So this is your foreplay? I've gotta say, I've seen and heard better." Amber quips though the twins suddenly halt halfway to the door with their hostage. Crystal once again raises a katana to Rebecca's throat, pressing the blade into her skin until it draws a slight bit of blood. She begins to slowly draw the blade across, creating a thin trail of crimson as Rebecca screams in pain.
That's our cue. Trent plants his back foot and Lauren quickly draws her handgun, refraining from using her bow any further. The Croft fires a shot at Crystal and hits her in the shoulder, allowing Trent to charge Amber and Rebecca. The blonde twin is preoccupied with her sister as he takes all three of them to the ground, fighting to separate Rebecca from Amber. "Motherfucker!" Amber curses at Trent while trying to keep her hold on Rebecca. He hunched low to the ground and clasped Amber's arms, loosening her grip on the reporter. He finally manages to break her grip while Lauren keeps the other twin occupied with her climbing axe. "Run Rebecca!" He shouts, pushing her away before Amber can regain her composure. The Asian woman nodded and climbed to her feet, her arms dangling behind her as she ran.
Trent forgoes the usual mid battle banter as his opponent's frantic sword swipes prevent it. Amber moves like a ninja with her katana, punctuating her swordplay with acrobatic somersaults and kicks. She launches a barrage of horizontal slashes at Trent's stomach, beaming manically all the while. He back pedaled the first two slashes but had to block the third with his bat, creating an opening for Amber to strike. Her right leg shot out and struck Trent with a side kick, generating yet another opening. She follows up with a rising knee into a back flip, viciously flooring him. "Not so chatty now, are you?" She snaps, raising her sword with the blade pointed at Trent. He tries to escape, but the kick knocked the breath out of him, leaving him winded for a time. Lauren is still unable to lend aid, preoccupied with her own foe; though she is faring much better than Trent.
He prepares for the inevitable, but a timely intervention ensures it never comes. Rebecca charges the blonde host out of nowhere with a shoulder tackled, knocking her off balance long enough for Trent to recover. He leaps to his feet and pulls Rebecca away just as a flash of steel struck where her neck was. "Thanks for the save." Trent says while trying to free Rebecca. "Just make sure it doesn't have to happen again. Watch out!" She shouts, forcing Trent to distance her yet again and resume the fight.
"I'll kill both of you and your friend when I'm done!" Amber snarls, displaying a savage streak she had tried to conceal before. She begins to display signs of fatigue after a fierce vertical slash that missed and hit the floor. Trent took the opportunity to finally go on the offensive, striking her in the face with the butt of his bat. Amber reeled from the blow as Trent grabbed his bat with both hands and pressed it against her throat, pushing her into the wall. Her sword hit the ground with a resounding clatter, having dropped it to hold Trent at bay. Adrenaline coursed through his veins, renewing his strength to press the assault.
Trent kneed Amber in the stomach before hip tossing her to the ground, executing the maneuver just as he'd been instructed by Lara. The provocative assistant looked him in the eye angrily, spitting at his face as Trent prepared to knock her out. He dropped his bat and brandished swiftly brandished his crowbar, striking her across the forehead. The blow brought the fight to a close, knocking her out instantly. Trent wipes his brow with a heavy arm, feeling sore after the battle. Lauren ended her own conflict shortly after by choking out Crystal with a scissor hold.
"Damn it, I'm going to be feeling that for a while." Trent remarks while rubbing his jaw and stomach. "They put up much more of a fight than I'd expected, TK was serious when he hired those two." Lauren adds though she barely had a scratch on her. Hell, Lauren looks like she barely broke a sweat. I really need to work on my fighting skills. "Oh my god, that was....." Rebecca can't find the words to describe the battle, simply lamenting the fact she didn't have a camera to record it. "But if you wouldn't mind, could you cut me free?" She asks of Trent, turning around to show her still tied hands. "Oh yeah, sure thing." He cut her loose with his machete only to be hit with a flying hug from the grateful woman.
"They're alive! I'm alive, we're all alive! I can't believe that just happened!" Rebecca is ecstatic that her sources are both still breathing, hugging Trent tightly as she talks. "You deserve one of these." Rebecca states before kissing Trent directly on the lips, making out with him in front of Lauren. Lauren shies away from the display, moving to secure their captives while they are still unconscious. The kiss seems to last for several minutes before Rebecca stops to catch her breath. "There's more where that came from if you keep this up." She winks seductively at Trent while running her finger down his chest, stopping just short of his navel. "I'd hope so." He replies playfully, overcoming the discomfort Rebecca's alluring nature had afflicted him with previously.
"Don't think I forgot about you, Lauren. Come here." Rebecca struts over to the British woman, but rewards her with a grateful, more restrained hug instead. "You're very welcome. I'm glad to see you're okay." Lauren says, chuckling all the while. "We need to find something to subdue them before they wake up. Look around for anything useful." Lauren says to the others as they stand over the defeated twins. "I saw a pile of rope over this way, they were probably going to use the rest of it on me..." Rebecca tells them, shuddering at the thought of what might have happened if they'd truly captured her. "But they didn't, and now we're using it on them." Trent remarks. Rebecca smiles offers him a playful wink in response, the reporter seems to be warming up to him quite well. I'll have to keep an eye on that one.
Lauren retrieves the coil of rope from a corner of the club and uses it to subdue both of the twins. Her expert knot work ensures they won't be escaping without assistance. "Let's hold onto these swords, they might come in handy." Lauren adds. She picks up one of the blades and hands the other to Trent, both of whom test their weight with a few practice swings. "This'll work very nicely." Trent is pleased with his new weapon, adding it to his pack and ever growing arsenal. This thing is getting kind of heavy though, I need to be careful about what I add to it from now on.
"Did anyone else notice the music has stopped?" Rebecca remarks on the silence that has pervaded the Shoal. "Whoa, it did. Who the hell turned it off?" Trent knew things were going too well, suspecting another attack is imminent. "Hold on, I'm not sure we have anything to worry about. Give me a moment." Lauren asks the others to wait as she runs off to inspect the DJ booth. She returns moments later, her own suspicions confirmed. "The music was just set to a timer and shut off without us noticing. Nothing out of the ordinary, for once. We have the twins now, but what about Jessie?" Lauren is still worried about their missing companion, but they discover her fate just after the statement.
A familiar voice scream and a sickening crack is heard above them, followed by the sound of tearing flesh and breaking bones. "Was that...No..." Trent dropped to his knees knowing full well what they'd heard. In some sort of twisted trick by the universe, the Proto had dragged Jessie to the same room as them and kept her alive until just now. Rebecca and Lauren look away, going through their own grieving processes. I asked her to come along. She would have been safe and alive if she'd stayed at the shelter. FUCK, what am I going to tell Rachel? Jessie was practically her sister... Trent's mind raced as he reflected on what he could've done differently. The guilt weighs on him heavily, especially the impending dialogue with Rachel, but this was neither the time nor the place to deliberate.
"She's gone, we'll have time to grieve later. We need to get these two back to the shelter so we can question them." Trent states pragmatically, steadying his breathing to get his mind back on track. "It's true. We all know it." Lauren adds. Rebecca nods in response, looking to Trent for suggestions on how to return to the shelter.

A) March the twins through the food court, it's a slightly longer path from the Shoal to the shelter, but they'll have to contend with all the zombies and anything else left in the food court and slot ranch casino. (60% chance of Twins' safety, 85% chance of Rebecca's safety)
B) Take them through the silver strip, they don't know how many zombies are out there now, but it's a straight shot to the Royal Flush Plaza from there. (80% chance of Twins' safety, 67% chance of Rebecca's safety)
C) Ask Rebecca or Lauren if they have any other business outside the shelter, Trent doesn't plan on leaving for a while after they return. This may be the last time he's willing to help for a while after all that's happened.
Now what should Trent be doing with Rebecca:
1) Keep her close, she's still slightly shaken up by what happened to Jessie, but in high spirits for the most part due to the twins' capture. (+6% to Rebecca's safety rate, -6% to Twins' safety rate)
2) Allow her to do her own thing, Trent needs to focus on escorting the Twins' for now. Lauren would have her hands full completely watching them by herself. (-6% to Rebecca's safety rate, +6% to Twins' safety rate)
So if you vote A or B, I'll need to know how they'll guard the twins:
1) Walk them in front of the group, Trent isn't going to take any chances with the possibility they might turn on them. They'll be more at risk but it's more than they deserve at this point. (-10% to Twins' safety rate, +10% to Rebecca's safety rate)
2) Keep them behind the group so Trent can focus on clearing a path with Lauren, they run too much of a chance of being injured or worse if they are put in the lead. Trent would begrudgingly do this, but it may be for the best. (+10% to Twins' safety rate, -10% to Rebecca's safety rate)
So here we are, you didn't think I'd make getting them back easy, did you?

"We can take them across the Silver Strip to get back to the Royal Flush Plaza." Trent said after a bit of deliberation. "Are you sure? It's most likely going to be crawling with zombies." Lauren questioned, knowing the risks of the suggestion as well. "I'm sure. I just want to get back and get these two into lock up." He replied with a heavy sigh, glancing at Rebecca for her opinion. "Whatever you say, I'm just along for the ride at this point. But if we're going that way, you better keep an eye out." The reporter remarked slyly at Trent to take his mind off the tragedy they'd just witnessed. Though it somehow felt like it had already been months since Jessie's death, he was able to muster an amused smirk.
As the twins began to stir, they glared at their captors after realizing what had happened. "Looks like we're in a bit of jam, Amber." Said Crystal, the dark haired twin in the silver dress. "That's okay Crystal, I don't think we need to be worried." Amber, the blonde twin in the golden dress, (just wanted to remind everyone which one is which) cackled mischievously. Trent didn't bother to humor them, merely motioning them to their feet. "Let's go." He stated stoically, placing the twins in front of the group as they leave the Shoal. "We're keeping them in front of us on the way back. Make sure they don't try to run." He whispered under his breath to Lauren. "That's pretty harsh, but I can see where you're coming from." Lauren countered hesitantly though she understood his reasons. The younger of the Croft sisters kept her bow at the ready should their hostages try anything. Rebecca was silent as they marched through the Yucatan, keeping an eye on the wandering droves of the undead around them.
Upon arriving at the Silver Strip they found it completely devoid of zombies. "What the hell?" Trent questioned aloud. "It's totally empty, now is that possible?" Rebecca echoed Trent's sentiment although Lauren remained cautious with a drawn bow. "This might qualify as a sign, Trent honey." Crystal said in a simpering voice as she shot a condescending look back at Trent. "And what do you mean by that?" He asked, immediately regretting so afterward. "That your luck is starting to run out." Amber responded in her sister's stead, obviously knowing something Trent and the others didn't. I'm really starting to wonder why I didn't just leave them back in the Shoal. "You two are just spouting out bullshit at this point, keep walking." He refused to let them get under his skin, marching them forward to hurry back to the shelter.
"Aw, he doesn't want to play right now." Amber pouted sarcastically, tossing Trent a sardonic glance. "Oh well, he won't get to hear about the little surprise that's surely waiting for them." Crystal added, giving Trent the same look as her sister. "The hell are you on about now?" He stopped them momentarily to hear about this possible surprise. "Oh no, it's too late now. You didn't want to play before." Amber scoffed as she flicked her hair aside, walking forward with her twin to ignore Trent. "Just let it go, they're ruffling your feathers is all." Lauren reassured him under her breath as they moved to catch up with their prisoners. "You're right, it's nothing." Trent dropped the subject, but he couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong from the back of his mind.
Rebecca kept to herself the rest of the way to the Royal Flush, watching closely for any movement that might reveal another presence. She was both relieved and anxious to find the Royal Flush Plaza was deserted as devoid of activity as the Silver Strip. She wondered what could have cleared out the zombies, but the only blood on the ground was dried and dark, having been there far too long to be recent. The zombies cleared of their own volition she thought, but why? Her curiousity was waylaid by their hasty arrival at the vents however. Trent entered first followed by the twins, Rebecca went next, and finally Lauren brought up the rear. Rebecca couldn't shake a mounting sense of dread as they traversed the familiar passageway back to the shelter...
Both her and Trent's suspicions were confirmed upon exiting the vents. An alarm was blaring throughout the shelter, red emergency lights circling at intermittent points. "The hell is it now?" Trent cursed, utterly tired of being favored by misfortune. He found the answer at the reinforced doors that stood in front of the monitor room. They were wide open, and zombies were swarming in, piling on top of one another to seek out their next meal. In line with his luck, this wasn't the only threat present. Audible just over the noise of the alarms was the sound of an old foe. He heard the croak before the others as a massive frog hopped into sight at the top of the stairs. Its jet black eyes gazed at them with only one desire: hunger.
The frog launched itself through the air, sights set on the blonde haired twin. "AMBER!" Crystal cried, the frog sailing directly toward her sister. Fortunately, Lauren was swift to nock an arrow and launch it at the airborne amphibian, saving their prisoner from a gruesome fate. The arrow was lodged in the frog's belly, blood seeping from the wound as it crashed to the ground in a dis-coordinated lump. A pained croaked escaped its maw, directed toward Lauren. Its eyes burned with rage, but Trent tore into his distracted foe before it could retaliate.
He slashed frantically at the frog with his machete, flesh slicking with every swing of the blade. It wasn't long before the frog was covered in gaping wounds and lay dead in a pool of its own blood. Trent panted while wiping specks of blood from his brow, the klaxon still blaring all around him. Lauren placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, calming the rage that had been building for days now. "Sorry, I just lost it, but we don't have time for this right now. We need to find everyone and get this place under control." He stated after glancing back at the group.
Rebecca was frozen in fear after seeing the emergence of the frogs, her traumatizing memories coming to surface in a rapid torrent. Trent stepped toward her and said, "Keep it together Rebecca, we need you here. I know those things got you before, but I won't let it happen again. We need to find everybody and get out of here now." His voice was tender but stern, they couldn't afford to waste anymore time. "Y-yeah, of course. Lead the way." She replied softly before grabbing Trent's arm for support. Lauren gave them a comforting nod. Amber and Crystal were uncharacteristically silent, but they didn't seem to be as angry as before. Maybe they've realized we won't simply put them out to pasture.

First, y'all need to decide how they'll explore the shelter:
A) As one group, they need to utilize strength in numbers even if it slows them down. Their chances of finding everyone alive will be hindered however.
B) Split up, they can cover more ground but the two groups will need to be careful not to put themselves at risk. They'll have a greater chance of finding everyone alive at an increased cost to personal safety.
If you choose B, who will make up the second group (You may choose up to 3:)
1) Lauren, she has the most combat training of the group and can easily hold her own.
2) Rebecca, she is a very skilled shot, but the trauma of facing the frogs may hinder her at some point.
3) Crystal, she's agile and capable enough to evade danger, but she'll need to be escorted due to her restraints.
4) Amber, she is as capable as her sister, but her restraints mean she'll need to be kept guarded to ensure her survival.
After making those choice, Trent needs a direction to follow:
C) Head toward the break room, it's to the left and a ways down the hall. Someone is bound to be holed up in there hopefully.
D) Head to the monitor room, it's straight ahead and halfway down the hall. Perhaps someone was watching the monitors and took cover in there.
If they do split up, the second group will go in the opposite direction of Trent.
